hi yall
was cleaning my new to me little bolt action mossberg and was fiddling around with the bold and it separated!! the front half with the exctracor/ejector just pulled off leaving the "guts" of the thing exposed: the firing pin, spring and some other stuff. i did not really examine too closely as i was so shocked.
i put it back together and put the bolt back into the reciver and since i am at home test firing is a bit frowned on by the wife and neighbors and such.
putting hulls through seemed to go fine, the firing pin smacked the old one and extracted the 'empty' really well

is this normal???? the bolt just separating with no apparent pin or set screw or anything to hold the two halves together. i just gotta know i have never seen such a thing

thank in advance for any help!!

Take a look at how it is made. Pretty sure that is how they come apart for cleaning. Half turn and they come apart.

good stuff Iceman!

thank you for the tip, it is a pretty cool design, one twist and the entire thing separates. the previous owner seems to have used that as the bolt is absolutely spotless for a 5o yr old gun
cheers!
