Apologies if this has been posted before.

Not sure I would call this safe handling... High speed motocrossing & gunning feral pigs in Australia. Steve Lee, of course:

so much bacony-awesomness!! I wish Ontario could get infested (with feral pigs as opposed to provincial liberals :) Delicious!

Nice shooting I must say.I too thought semi`s were prohibs in Australia ,cool to think they are not.

They do the same thing in Texas ,but in helicopters and with ARs or whatever the client chooses to shoot with ,pretty cool idea ,but expensive !

When you think of it ,the SKS is a great rifle for this type of shooting and the country they are in ,accurate enough ,reliable and tough and cheap to shoot.

I like it !!

Cheers

I thought semi auto rifles were banned in Australia? That video surprised me.

Special permits are available for varmint or pest control. Not certain of exactly who qualifies, if a farmer/rancher can apply or if it must be a 'professional pest removal' type operation.

No you don't, they are likely the most destructive invasive species we will see in Canada and once established all but impossible to eradicate. Ask Texas how much "fun" they are.

And then we would need to allocate a day of the week here for Pig Defence threads...

"What's the best calibre for Ma bacon makin machine?"

But but, I heard that .50 Beowulf is awesome for bacon defence. Who makes a non restricted AR in it with a pistol magazine? ;)

hey even the dog looks happy. i watched this a while back and these pigs are smart as they know if they make the fence they will probably be safe. something like coyotes around here as they get wise very quick if they are being hunted . i have never shot an sks but a friend of mine has one . i am going to give it a try . these guns are inexpensive to buy .

Get a good Russian unit, clean her up and have at it. Everyone should own one of these. Cheap like borscht, cheap to feed and you can hunt with it as well. The pig issue actually caused me to switch my primary deer rifle from a Bolt to a Semi 308 in Sask, (Win 100 308 carbine) last year I was pushing a slu for deer and stumbled into a large boar. 1 shot into the cattails some 5 yards in front of me was enough to divert him from his intended course (me!) but if he had not changed direction I would not have had the time to cycle a second shot, he was that bloody close. The semi is nice for that quick follow up shot, which when playing in boarland, could be verrry handy indeed. Never even saw the darn thing until he broke cover as he ran out the other side, and all I heard was rustle - grunt as he charged.

Bjjack, where was that? I've never seen a boar here!

I lived in Oz for awhile years ago, they had Roos like we have sparrows. Any direction you looked you'd see at least 20. A handful of boars too. Everyone I knew kept .222s in their trucks for pests.
