6-48 screws?

Hi guys,

i wasnt sure where to post this where it would get the best exposure, but here it goes.... i have a one off Rem 722 rifle in .308. i have a 1.5" O.D spiral fluted stainless BBL on it, so I needed to get my Bushnell 6-24x50 Tactical G2DMR up a wee bit higher up. I have the scope mounted in Near Alphamount on a NF 20 MOA rail. Well with this set up, the sunshade just touches the barrel at the front of the shade... I picked up some standard 2 piece bases, and flattened them off, and put them them on, then the 20 MOA rail on them. This brings everything up to a perfect height. The thing is, that I need a couple of longer screws to go through the 20MOA rail and bases. the standard screws I have are just a bit too short. I believe the standard screws are fillister style 6-48. Does anyone have any extra one's they could spare that are extra long for me? I need them about 3/8" or even 1/2"... I could just shorten them as needed. Is this the right thread, as a Rem 722/700 uses?

can anyone here help me out? im in the styx, and dont have access to any.

why not use higher rings. i don't believe what you are attempting makes sense. i don't think you will find the screw length your looking for.
 
I believe those screws should be 6-40 but I could be wrong on the 721. Probably better off with a different set up. Some 20 moa rails have thicker bases then others and might give you a bit of extra height.

My 1PC base, I just cut off 2 rail sections of the overlaping section forward of where it screws into, where my shade touched.
