Hello again reloaders. I just got my barely used RBCS power trimmer in the mail, and it had no instructions with it. There is , what appears to be a cutting bit attached to it. Is this a general bit for case trimming , most rifle calibers , or do each caliber take a different bit. And while I'm asking... I've ordered a rbcs media tumbler, but I've seen YouTube vidios of cleaners with soap and water. So do you need both , media and liquid? Or is either one sufficient? Or do you even need to clean the brass with either. ( I like shiny brass, is this all that, cleaning does?). Here's a pic of the bit.image.jpg. Thanks so much..... Brian

You need the caliber specific pilots that screws in the middle of the cutter. As far as the media tumbler, you just need media (corn or walnut). The liquid and soap method uses a different tumbler and stainless steel pins.

As I bought this one used, it already had this cutter installed, how do you tell which caliber this one is for? And I have a rbcs media tumbler on the way + walnut media. I was just wondering if you even need to do this step. Thanks. Ok so I removed this one, no idea what size it is, now I need one for .223 right? Can't seem to find it on rbcs website. lol , ok I found the pilots, they're numbered from 24 to 45. I'm guessing I need a number22 for 223?

Each pilot will have a number stamped on it for the caliber, the pilot slides into the center of the cutter.
Ok , I figured that much out so far:) , smallest one that came with the set is 24, so I'm guessing I need a # 22 , how do you tell which pilot is for which caliber? # 30 = 30 cal ... etc. ?

Yes, the number on them is the caliber. .22 will do for .223, .22-250, .24 for .243 Win, .30 for .308, .30-06 etc...

You will need the shell holders to,I think you can go to RCBS web site and find instuctions. they have a handy sheet with all the trim lengths and what shell holder to use for each caliber.Just checked there site. They are there at the bottom of page under resources.
Good Luck

I've ordered # 10 shell holder and plate, and a gauge from brownells. Also a fellow CGN,er pm me a copy of the instructions that came with the trimmer. Almost good to go soon.

You mean it chambers And deburs and trims, and can attach to my power trimmer? Thought you needed another piece of equipment for that? ( case prep center)
