T97 FTU upgrade question

Haha. Calling the FTU a bubba mod.

No. It's what the rifle should have been in the first place.

I don't even own one and that is pretty evident to me. The car comparison only makes sense if half your stock vehicle was a mediocre pickup to begin with.

Guess what, the top half of a stock t97 is mediocre.

Judgement stands.

dunno why it deleted.

yea the front grip and stipple make the rifle feel ten times better...for me anyways. just waiting for my 10 round mags to get in the mail cause these 5 round mags are such a pain in the butt lol

I also ordered the front grip, two LAR-15 mags and two beowulf magazines. The rifle got processed at my local post office on Friday so I will have her tomorrow! Feel like a kid on Xmas eve.

So what kind of accuracy does this mod bring? In the pic the scope ( sights ) are still at least 4 inches above the barrel.

The iron sights are terrible. As in totally all over the place at 100 yards and any small bolt on rail has an even higher height over bore than the irons. The FTU allows for a red dot like the Sparc, trs25 or other similar to be mounted lower than the stock irons. I found my accuracy with the rifle greatly improved. Night and day difference in shooting performance and enjoyment.

I havent been able to properly zero the rifle because I havent been able to use a gun rest but i've got it pretty close. I can hit a 12 inch steel plate at 300 meters so I'm happy with that. Hopefully soon i can pick up a rest...and get it done properly

Maybe its your skill and not the rifles fault?

I seem to do quite well with irons on all of my other rifles. As I stated, I found "my" accuracy with this rifle lacking with the chinese style of sights.

I would suggest you do a search between trolling comments and see others have had the same take, both with the FTU and the stock irons.

As "my" accuracy improved with the rifle with the addition of the FTU, and a no magnification optic, and nothing else was done with the rifle or in training to improve my shooting skills... The variable most likely to be attributed to accuracy in the rifle would be the one thing that change in the formula.

So... The FTU.

Whatever the reason, however, I personally find that the FTU improves the rifle. And the op wanted opinions on such. My opinion is yes. He can take from it what he likes.

Is that with cheap Norc ammo???
We have steel pig targets at 500m here in Whitehorse. They are about 30" wide and i can hit them with a stock Russian SKS and Russian surplus ammo. Lots of fun

I'm going to go and put 100 rounds through mine before I install the FTU. So i got something to compair the upgrade with.

i find when i use the norinco ammo its not as consitant with accuracy, but again i havent zero'd my scope 100 percent. i did learn a good lesson, make sure this gun is nicely lubed up or else it doesnt like feeding rounds lol
