FYI, I took a gamble and ordered Weaver low profile scope rings to install my burris fullfield II 3-9x40, and I'm very happy to report that it fits perfect and the scope is close to the bore and clears the bolt handle.
They were cheap but seems good quality for the price, + they are made in USA.

Pretty sure the dovetail is 11mm cause the rings from my CZ 452 lux fit perfect and its a 11mm , Heres the rings i used , http://www.amazon.ca/Warne-Scope-Mo...?ie=UTF8&qid=1415326339&sr=8-5&keywords=warne
these rings fit both 3/8 and 11mm by switching the side dovetail clamp, i had to use the 11mm clamp for them to fit my NS522 dovetail.

Great post OP and thanks for all the info everyone. NS522 ordered.
Just got mine, anybody else have problems with the mags feeding? My successful feed rate is about 50%. Seems like the round doesn't get lined up with the chamber properly and then the bolt won't close on it. Using Winchester Dynapoints. I will investigate further as I think it's a mag problem.
I've seen this with all three of mine, however I was able to feed it but the chamber would snip off a "fingernail" off of the bullet. My problem was that when the bolt pushes the cartridge off the mag, the casing does not seat onto the bolt face completely. Thus the casing would be slightly canted as it entered the chamber causing it to snip the bottom of the bullet. The extractors and ejectors on mine were all extremely sticky with old congealed oil so I pulled them from the bolt and cleaned out thoroughly which helped. Might want to give this a try.

So far I've stripped down the stock,filled in the oversize bolt notch with a block of wood,and given the whole thing a coat of west system epoxy I had left over.I think given its impossable to match the inserted block,I will give the stock several more coats of epoxy,then apply a sprayed appliance epoxy which unfortionately only comes in black,white ,stainless or almond.I might spray on a coat of Krylon in Matt green over that.Given the soft wood,I might put on a layer of glass cloth if the epoxy doesn't result in a hard finish

I have two, neither one feeds very well. I was fortunate to get the single shot adapter with one of my rifles, and I usually put it in whichever rifle I'm shooting at the time. FWIW, the way the stock mag feeds, you don't have to worry much about finding spare mags, as they probably won't feed very well, either.

Where did you get the single shot adapter? And can we get a pic of that, a lot of use would love to fabricate one! Cheers Bob
Bob, I'm not too internet savvy, so I don't know how to post the link, but do a search in the rimfire section for a threaded entitled, "NS522 mags/Pics of Single Shot Adapter". I included a few pics and a hand-drawn sketch of the s/s adapter in that thread. PS, I went ahead and bumped the thread in question to the top of the rimfire forum.

Update on my feed problem. Its the extractors and no amount of cleaning will fix it. There are two extractors (one is a shell holder) and one of them on my rifle has insufficient clearance to the bolt face so the rim of the round cannot fit underneath. Basically when the bolt strips a round, one extractor clips on but the other cannot properly engage over the rim. This causes the round to be not flush to bolt face which won't allow it to chamber. These parts (the extractors) seem very poorly made almost hand filed. I'll post some pics and contact can am tomorrow.

RWS is very good ammo. Use it in my custom built dar22 and I can almost match the accuracy of my father in law anshutz 64 at 100yards.
well mine definitely hits!
first day out with this rifle, its completely stock, not even pillar bedded or free floated yet, did some accuracy testing at 25m after sighting in.
5 shot groups, RWS Rifle Match .22 40gr ammo.
and a 50m grouping, same RWS ammo, was pouring rain that day, and i rushed the last 2 shots a little causing the 2 fliers...
overall to say that im impressed with this rifle would be a huge understatement.
I can't wait to see how it shoots after free floating and pillar bedding!
also trying to find a cheap bulk ammo that the gun likes, so i can stop feeding it RWS.

I have FTE-s. Usually, the spent case sits on top of the next round and I have to use my fingers to take it out but I haven't ruled out ammo issue yet. I've tried at least 10 different brands of ammo so far but I didn't pay attention to which ammo I had FTE with.

My three rifles all look like yours. My brothers rifle is the same and a rifle I sent back to CanAmmo had the same. The rifle I sent back had a similar problem to yours but doesn't sound as bad. When I tried to chamber a round it would catch on the extractor and wouldn't fully seat on the bolt face. As I forced it further it would cut off a bit of the bullet upon chambering the round. I sent this rifle back and the replacement they sent me had the same issue. After cleaning out the extractor and retainer, I lightly polished the extractor a bit with a fine file and some 600 grit as the case appeared to be catching the sharp point of the extractor. This helped to ease the cartridge onto the bolt face. Still not perfect but it now does not clip the bullet. I've done this to my other rifle and suspect I will have to do it with my new one I just received.
