brass can be found here in canada for these, you just need to look.

and for everyone asking who imports these kits, call the guys and talk to them, you may be surprised by what you hear about importing these to canada.

they do not recommend: Metro Arms American Classic, Armscor, STI Spartan, Tisas ZIG, IAI (Israeli Arms International) - We've found the top lugs in the slides of the Philipines produced 1911s to be soft! We've not tested the Israeli made guns but would recommend extreme caution, Rock Island Armory, Auto Ordnance, Taurus, Llama, AMT, Charles Daly, Essex, Remington Rand, Any "GI" 1911 (pre-50s / spot heat treated)

Yup.The difference between the upper and the lower row of manufacturers is: The upper one have Forged steel frame and forged slides,the lower row has cast slides in all applications and sometimes cast frames too.(or too old of course)

I've been thinking about converting a Norinco for a while now. Brownells carries the conversions and according to the site they can be shipped to Canada. Rusty Wood and Double Tap both list Starline brass. The 45-08 sounds pretty interesting too.

I ended up finding this kit from a member here, I'm just looking for the right 1911 to install it in. I was going to put in my kimber but now I'm leaning towards putting it in a cheaper 1911 until I get my reloads dialed in.

Get a Norinco. They have better steel in them than 99% of the guns you will look at. Wilson Combat would do work on them but would not do Kimbers. Mine handles the 45-08 cartridge with ease.

Never mind I found it. $369 isn't too bad of a price. Maybe put it in a Norinco...but then again I can have a new Kimber Custom II at my door for $945.

they DO ship to Canada, they do accept our money and they will talk to Canadians (we are not shunned there like some US gun manufactures)

ive decided to do the one i ordered on a Norinco to see how i like it.
i had wanted to do it on a SAM Titan but i fear that there would be too much fitting to get it to run good as SAMs seem to be hand fit so adding after market anything sounds like its a real task.
 
So a little update, as Wayupnorth stated 460rowland.com can ship the conversion kits to Canada. But after calling and talking to them I can confirm that they can also ship 460 Rowland brass to Canada as well.

As far as trying to figuring out why a person might want a .460 Rowland kit with a comp instead of finding some prepped .45-08 brass and a bigger spring..... I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's nice to have choices but it doesn't mean we need to understand each others choices or choose the same thing.

The Rowland conversion seems like a fun road to travel for a few hundred bucks..... pretty cheap in the bigger picture of shooting expenses.
 
I bought some 45-08 brass and a spring from Gunnar. Works great and delivers as promised in velocity. Brass is always the weak link. If we could carry pistols for bear defense without an ATC I would carry that. 10 rounds of 45-08 in my Para 45 is pretty formidable as pistols go. Close to 44 mag but 4 more rounds and nicer to carry than a revolver.

just to double update ya, when they say up to 3 weeks to ship they mean it.
im 2 weeks in and it hasnt even left their office yet.
if not by the end of the week that will be 3.
ill let ya know when it arrives.
 
This 460 looks neat (Minus the grips and 3300 price tag).

You guys are a bad influence. I put in an order for some long shot today, turns out I missed out by a day or two on the last of the shipment. So at least my visa is safe for a little longer. I might just have to get some brass on the way though, I wonder how well blue dot will work in a Rowland. The reason I want to go with the Rowland over a 45-08 is because of the comp that should slow down the slide a fair bit. I also kind of want to replace a barrel in a Norc anyways, might as well kill two birds. I just unwrapped my last Norc 1911 last weekend from last years Canada Ammo deal to get ready for some work.
