Building a new stock for my SKS?

I've been thinking about building a new stock for my SKS.
Are the laws such that I could not make it look similar to an AK or is it based on what the weapon actually is?

This is a project that I am planning to tackle this winter as well... more Dragunov than AK for me tho... TBH, I think a person could fashion something better than factory with two broken hockey sticks and some duct tape...lol Keep us posted on your project...

the Moist Nugget i have though, the stock is rough. I'm thinking of making it gloss black, and polishing the metal for a winter project.

Why not buy a VZ 58... and then mod it... the receiver box is alot more identical to a AK than that of an SKS's, the trigger group is located too far back and too low on an SKS to make a good AK clone. A VZ would only require hardwood furniture, a modified dust cover and a re shaped handle on the bolt carrier to look VERY close to an AK.

I have a beat to crap 41 enfield that shoots great and it would look awesome like that.
