30-06 family

I have always liked the 30-06 and .270.

I have never shot a 25-06, am I missing out?

I hadn't either, but bought a M77 in 25-06. Hands down the most accurate big game rifle i have ever owned. Have to do that 1/2 MOA challenge one day. For deer, awesome...actually everything i shoot with it goes bang/flop. Probably partly because i dont ask it to do something its not made to do. Awesome long range predator and deer caliber.

Hmm 3 favorites from the .30-06 family, I'm going to have to mull this over with myself in writing. It is tempting to say 3 .30-06's in different rifles with different loads and scopes and barrel lengths for various purposes. Say a 22" barrel bolt action 2-7 scope loaded with a 130 grain ttsx or a 165-180 cup and core for general use, Remington 7600 with a 1.5-4.5 or similar scope and a 220 grain pill for things up close and a 26" barrelled bolt action .30-06 AI with a 4-12 and some slippery high BC bullet for the prairies and mountains yep I could happily live with that.
Of course the rifle looney in me says that is far to ho hum, lets go .280 mountain rig, .338-06 general purpose and a .400 Brown Whelen for the big nasties. Make them all mauser actions

I hunt with .25-06 and .35whelen every year, but I completely agree "Dad" is all you need.
Don't even own .30-06 anymore -- prefer the runt & rotund siblings instead.

I have a Handi Ultra rifle swap barrel set in .25/06 & .30/06 & .35 Whelen... I feel the best and most balanced three of the group.

I have a switch barreled precision rifle that I have a 280Rem barrel,30-06 barrel for.

My plan is to get a 35 whelen,270win,25-06, and a 6.5-06 barrel made as well. The whole crew so to speak. No improved versions though. Been there-done that, and dont feel there is a "need" for it.
One rifle, all characters/cals. available. Fun stuff this is!
