Eva Shockey harrassed and threatened for killing black bear

Pointless to argue facts and hard science with the anti's

Here's a tip that all readers on this forum can and should understand.
There is simply and absolutely no reasoning with the anti-hunt, anti-gun fanatical zealots regardless of their political leanings or personal ideology.
They have their own specific agenda and no amount of hard science or factual based discussion will ever dissuade their vitriolic and often violent fervor towards the ethical hunter or responsible gun enthusiast because to them the argument does not have make any sense what so ever. It is purely an emotional stand against anything they oppose.
You might as well have that argument with the proverbial fence post.

OK, just wait a minute here. Are you trying to say they are stupid?

I'd be the last one to defend these crazy people in any way, but rather than focus on their dysfunction I'd rather see the hunting community take a more proactive (rather than reactive) approach to improving our collective public image.

A good start would be for the hunting shows on TV to focus more on the animal and the food from the animal. Most shows end with a victory scream or a high five (or both) and a shot of a dead animal. For non-hunters to think that it is all about killing is a logical conclusion to what they are seeing.

How many shows show the animal being cared for respectfully after the shot? How many shows explain the importance of proper field dressing, skinning, butchering, etc.? How many shows include a segment where the hunter sits down to a gourmet meal of wild meat with his family/friends?

People say hunters are their own worst enemy, but more and more I see the hunting media industry as one of our worst enemies. As a hunter, I simply can't even watch most of that crap.

I agree with this ..... although mostly it's just because the shows are crap ..... same as the magazine articles. We aren't so much watching (or reading about a hunt) ... but rather a product placement expo. "I slid the safety off on my Sako 11million and the Federal 130 grain barnes tripple shock found it's mark" .... just doesn't provied me with the same enjoyment as the articles of my youth .....

Same with the hunting shows. Some Dude in camo slotted between station breaks for repetitive Commercials for sponsored gear ... with shows that have him talk about the gear he is going to use , then arrive at the stand, perhaps point out anoither piece of useful equipment he has, then 5 minutes of film showing a parade of animals most guys would shoot every day that he passes on ... he finally sees his one .... music changes he drops it and then dances around like he scored the winning touchdown at the superbowl (but for some unknown reason he's still whispering ) ..... climbs down waits for the outfitter to arrive ... show the animal and roll credits .... fade to black and a polaris comercial with the same guy doing the voiceover for it as the Fereral Ammo commercial that they played 8 minutes previous.......
Up next 2 hours of back to back to back to back bass Fishing shows by guys decked out like indie 500 Drivers dispersed amongst hummingbird fish finder and spider wire fishing line Commercials --- Still with the same guy doing the voice overs !!!

I was all excited to get Wild TV free for a month a couple of years ago and after a few days I couldn't watch it --- It was just bad bad Television.

I'm not so sure Field dressing and butchering would be huge improvements (i mean I'd like it but i don't know I'm suspicious if it would "test" well) ........... but definately the consumption could add a lot.

As to the op Perhaps Eva Shockey could / should get a hold of Anita Sarkeesian's publicist

If you have the opportunity, check out the show MeatEater with Steve Rinella.

In my opinion, the best hunting shows I have ever seen.

because for some reason. that bear is worth more to them then you or I. Even though they do not know you, me or the bear. I think that every anti-hunter that eats store bought meat should be required to take a tour through showing the life of their "humanely" produced meat.

Fishog try to read that one above... its coming from here ...

the one you are trying to help us in Yukon ...

I think the two are quite different. Here we have death threats whereas in the Yukon it doesn't appear that folks are necessarily against hunting per se.

because others mentions about slaughter house only that ...

are you in love with me?
do you have a friend asking you to care of me?

No, I am curious what difference whether or not the meat was taken makes when comments such as "your mother should have dies during child birth" are directed towards the hunter. Because in my view it makes no difference whatsoever.

And no, I am not in love with you. And I have no friends either.

f:P:

This thread is about Eva Shockey, bears, and antis. Why try to make it about you?

He is just displeased with me. I thought he would be one of the members that one could have a decent discourse with. Apparently not.

Gentlemen we need not rip ourselves apart over whether she is famous or not or whether she used brand x knife or you saw this on wild tv. What this is really about is a bunch of evil people trying to take the sport we love away from us. And when I read some of the comments above I shake my head. We need to stay united here don't let these freaks divide us. I get it if you don't want to hold a t.v. celebrities hand at the next banquet but like it or not these people represent us as a group. I for one respect their efforts even if I don't care for some of the shows.

No, you said that.

OK, just wait a minute here. Are you trying to say they are stupid?

No, you said that.
Implying they are stupid does not accurately reflect their collective or singular intelligence one way or another. But I will say they seriously convey their emotional views on both hunting and firearms as a very conveniently misinformed movement.

I was kidding...but you are being very gracious! :)

Is this the behavior of a stable person? Someone who's opinion you would take the time to consider? Someone who could be looked on as a knowledgeable peer?... Remember that people like that are responsible for anti everything including hunting movement's... Know thy enemy, any free publicity is good publicity.

"Lefties/Hippies and liberals are amongst the meanest and most dangerous people in the world."

I'm a leftie, I've been called a hippie and I think liberals are right wingers.

The only critters that think I'm dangerous are deer and the families of the black bears that I've shot one of since 1976.
