Watching Israeli police and soldiers on the news armed with M4s and have long wondered if they are producing their own copies or using USA supplied M4s if USA supplied any idea on manufacturer?

Yea, IDF get theirs through a Pentagon program, I can't recall the name. They are US Govt contract... which for M-4's meant Colt for a long time. Its possible some FN's were in there too, but I'm no expert on this.

Do they have any actual M4s?

If you look closely most of the ARs you see the IDF using are actually old M16A1s that have had their barrel shortened in Israel.

I think most of the IDFs ARs are from the US in the 70s... In the 80s and 90s they were building Galils and now they build Tavors.

Very very few are actual M4s, most are M16s and CAR15s cut down to various lengths. (12.5 inch pencil barrel with carry handle are the most common)
If you looks closely, many lower receivers are Vietnam era M16s, they rebuild the uppers frequently with whatever parts they can get their hands on.

Their specops often use M4 barrels... I never bothered to look closely at the receivers to see what decade they were made.

Believe it or not a lot of the ones you see over there started their days as either M16A1 Colts or model 653 Colt carbines.
They have been in service since the 60's 70's and continually upgraded and modified.

Talk about stretching a buck eh? :D

I guess all the money they saved paid to design the Tavor :D .
