After reading the posts about wait times in Ontario I am so glad I moved.
I purchased a new 1911 Friday afternoon from a store in Edmonton over the phone.
I called the Alberta CFO on Monday and had the transfer and STATT in no time.
The email they sent didn't come through so I called back today (Wednesday). The gentleman, Jeremy, I was talking to put me on hold, did what he had to do and then came back on the line to check if I had received the email then THANKED ME FOR CALLING.
In total I spent 14 minutes over 2 calls on the phone.

Bought two restricted's recently in NB. In both cases the transfer was approved the next day.

One of my transfers in ontario took 3 week. It sucks and the delay serves no purpose, but in the grand scheme of things at least we can still own and shoot pistols. When I talk to friends in the uk and Australia about their laws, I realize it could easily be a lot worse here.

Sure it could be a lot better and I wish I could wilderness carry, but everything has a tendency to become more, not less, restrictive when it comes to firearms

buying from stores is not the same...
the waiting times in the other threads were referred to private transfers. The delays are random, some times transfers are done the same day....

I gave up trying to figure them out. Best I can do is call.

Everything I have sent east has taken a month or more to be approved. Everything sent my direction has taken less than a week to be approved.

I feel bad for those buyers having to wait a month before I can ship.

Can't say enough good things about the Alberta CFO exchanges I've had. Polite, respectful exchanges and paperwork when I needed it.

You forgot to send Wyatt his Christmas card!!

It's not all bad in Ontario!

I ordered a Smith and Wesson MP22 online from a store in Toronto at about 10pm on Friday night. I had confirmation on Saturday morning and the pistol was in my hands on Wednesday. That includes shipping time with Canada Post!!

Another poster already posted that store purchases are not the same. Store purchases get approved in a day or two even in ON. Private sales however are random from several days to few weeks or more.

Transfers initiated by a store have always been approved quickly in Ontario, usually takes about 24hrs. It's the private transfers where that eye liner wearing SOB Wyatt is screwing us over.

I was just going to make a thread about this. What could they possibly doing that takes so long. Store purchases have never taken more than a day for me. I'm 9 days into my first private purchase and it's a bit frustrating.

my last private transfer was initiated on october 27 and was approved on november 19. i called them on november 20 and the lady said "it was approved and mailed out yesterday so thats a good sign." they have been really slow lately so patience is the key.
