I found a Bushnell Legend 4x12x40 in my gun cabinet,I had bought it at a sale a while ago and forgot about it until I got my FS 522 and decided to try it.
Any opinions on this scope for a .22? how do they compare with Nikon or Leupold?

I own one. Had it on a .243 and it now sits on my .22 mag. Excellent scope.Have a 2-7x32 on a marlin lever and it has served me well. I own 3200's as well and i can't tell much diference other than the lack of rainguard coating on the legend. I personally think they are better than the new legend series.

I'm very impressed with both the bushnell 3200 and new Legend_HD scopes for the price in the low magnafication offerings. The Legend HD has a slight edge in image quality and has extra eye-relief. I prefer the thicker crosshair of the 3200.

Rumor has it the new Legends are the old 3200's.........but not 100% on this.

It appears that some models from the 2014 'Elite' Line are identical to the previous generation 'Elite 3200' Line except the latest generations are 'Fully multi-coated'.

I have a Legend 2-7x32 on a Zastava M85 7.62x39 and love it. Very clear and decent eye relief. Eye position not too critical, either. I just last week purchased a Legend Ultra HD 1.75-5x32 DOA 200 and it completely blows the old Legend out of the water! It's as clear and crisp as my Vortex Diamondback 2-7 and my Burris FFII 3-9x40. The Ulrad HD line also has rain guard now.

I have a 6-18 Legend on one of my 204s. It's a pretty good scope with decent glass for the lower end price range. If I had one real complaint it would be that the crosshairs are a lot thicker than I would like. I actually had been thinking about getting a 522 and my plan was to steal this scope off the 204 since I rarely use that gun anymore.

522 is sold out now. Funny enough, my new Legend Ultra HD DOA 200 has the thinnest reticle I have ever seen. Much much thinner than my old 2-7 Legend.

have a older legend (maybe 2007-2008) I think its 4x14.5 on the 243.
honestly its been a great scope on that gun clear glass - adjusts perfectly every time - has held its settings for years and years now.
I can't really say much about how it handles recoil as that specific 243 is a big heavy target barreled Rem 700 VLS running a bipod it kicks basically like a .22 so the scope doesnt really have to work hard to hold true, That said its never had a issue so should handle a 22lr/mag without issues I wouldnt hesitate to even buy another one if i wanted similar application for a scope.
