Bought the dream rifle, or bought the farm, today.

Speaking of the missus..............whut duzz she think?.........................

Presumably she has been told that this a tax exempt investment that will exceed average market growth by several times - essentially recession proof among the Oil Sheik clientele crowd!

98 New Bond Street ... was a great address -- now a boutique across from a chocolate store (good chocolates though!)

(maybe entertain her by getting her to research and fill those other lovely little velvet lined boxes in the gun case with appropriate accessories...)

You've done this before. :) She's actually extremely supportive and I'm very lucky. More than anything she seems to appreciate the idea of my collection shrinking to a handful of out of the way items rather than taking over a room. I just have to keep her convinced this is the path to that.

Been on a slash and burn already anyhow returning to Africa again, this is a side step to be sure, but will prove a great companion over there no doubt.

Might be the same thing, but went out and bought my ultimate rifle today. Holland & Holland .375 Flanged Nitro Express Royal double with some curious features, single selective trigger, 26" barrels, H&H scope mounts, ejectors, the whole todo and every option I would like in a double. Some will raise an eyebrow at the single selective trigger, but I trust H&H's lockwork and a .375 double is all about being the fastest two shots in the dangerous game world, being light in caliber. A single selective makes it just that split hair faster. It's also my favoured lockwork on side by side shotguns, on which I've spent far too much trigger time.

I've struggled with whether to minimize to affordable guns and have a selection, or only have a handful of absolutely top notch guns, guess I've decided my path at least for awhile, as I'll never go above this. I'll be sure to post some pics when she gets home. My .577 shopping is going to be on the back burner a few years I'm afraid. Those of us that shoot together I'll be sure we meet and shoot it, and Jon / pitched we'll have to meet up and shoot one of these days as I'm back in BC. stickhunter, I insist you borrow it. Can't kid myself, just excited and feels like Christmas, and yea yea… the thread's worthless without proper pics, will be sure to share em.

By the time you're ready to look at the .577 again, you should be sufficiently toughened up from shooting a .375 with no recoil pad!

After your wife kills you, can I have it? You won't need it when you're dead.

My brother already called when he heard... Damn near the same query. :)

Beauty!

(so what's your fire sale price on the Merkel :))

Will have to think on that. ;)

Better than coffee. ;)

Fortunately, just happy for me, been shopping English doubles for ten years and she was annoyed with my humming and hawing:
