Norinco JW-20 - Unbelievable price!!

I must say I really like this little rifle, and am pleasantly surprised by the fit and finish.Its nicely balanced and just the thing to tuck under your arm and go for a walk in the woods.My only challange is my eyes,I just can't use open sight anymore,so it's either a scope of a red dot.

The only other option is replacing the rear sight with a 'Bulls eye'ghost ring(Brownells),or using JB weld to attach a small thick washer or a drilled spacer to the existing sight which actually works surprisingly well.Give it a quick shot of dull black paint and it doesn't look bad either.its not perfect but at the typical small game /plinking range it's quite functional and a great improvement over the open sights.

Now I just have to find some rabbits...

Small problem,when I first got the rifle,I wiped off the oil,ran some brake cleaner through it,wiped it down again and run a couple if patches through the barrel,then loaded single bullets and fired it with no issues.

So this morning I started to clean it a bit better,took the forend and barrel off and cleaned up the notch that was gritty and stiff ,put it back together,loaded a shell, but it wouldn't fire..the firing pin strikes,but quite light,what did I do wrong?the barrel is tight,so it's not that

My guess: a bit of grit trapped in with the firing pin.

Did you take the trigger assembly out and break it all down and clean all the cosmoline out of all the springs? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVFu_IiqcK0 This will help you with taking it apart and putting it back together.
 
No,I haven't stripped down the trigger assembly,I am somewhat daunted by that....all I have find is spray brake cleaner in and wipe it down.
 
I bought two of these but cant figure out how to take apart the barrel lock switch. both are way to stiff for my kids fingers. any pics or video would help some of us new owners of this little jem.

The trigger assembly actually comes out/apart very easily & goes back together just as easily. It's a pretty simple process, I actually like it better than the 10/22 or the Mossy 702. After the 1st time, you won't have any reservations.
*I had an issue with light strikes & found I needed to back off the barrel ring. The barrel needs to be as close to the breach face as possible. Even if the assembly seems tight, you might have it a thread or 2 farther than it should be. Back it way off & tighten from there.*
Also, the extractor is easily damaged while twisting the barrel off. Be sure to slightly charge the bolt it while twisting the barrel off...this will pull the extractor free from the barrel.

I love mine! It's a pretty nice rig for the price. And is very accurate, all things considered.

Had the same prob. You have to tap it with a punch to get it open, then take the switch out(watch out for the springs!) and file it down a bit to fit.
