Yes 35 Remington. Not 358 Winchester.

I have had this project on the back burner for years. Do to health reasons i want to get it done. So I have some questions.

First of all I am thinking along the lines of this.
Bolt action of some sort (maybe a Savage) with a 18.5 inch #3 or #4 contour Shilen CM barrel with a composite stock. Twist rate? Scoped with a 1-5 power.

Rifle will be used as a bush gun with long shots being 75 - 100 yards. I will be using 200 grain round nose bullets and loading my own ammunition.

I would like to hear any suggestions you may have. Once again I am not interested in the 358 Win so please don,t bother suggesting that I go that rout.

Thank You

Off ths shelf 30 Rem

Just finished "rehabbing" a Remington 600 in 35 Rem.
Didn't take much; aluminum bottom metal and vent rib, just waiting on a choice of trigger.
35 Rem was the least produced of the 600 line, but health issues (weak rt side from stroke) make it just about ideal for me.
Using Hornady FTX 200's, and loading out past the top end of most tables as SAAMI pressure max (39 885) is predicated on old lever and unlocked semi auto actions.

with a modern savage action, the pressures could be run up to equal '08 loads, and give some significant velocities if needed.

a 200gr bullet is not going to let that round really show its stuff, but if you stick with it, a short action SAKO would work really well, I'd think. or something like a MiniMauser maybe?
