I got my P762 from Canada Ammo a couple of days ago. My first impressions upon unpacking....

One thing I can say is that the grip is huge! I have pretty big hands (I wear XL gloves) and while it's OK for me any bigger and I'd have issues wrapping my hand around it. I question the choice of a thick, wrap around rubber grip on a frame that's already oversize. Thin plastic grips with nothing around the front strap might have been a better way to go.

Another thing I noticed is that the trigger is so far forward when the gun isn't cocked that you can barely squeeze your finger in between it and the front of the trigger guard. I expect that this long awkward pull, combined with a very heavy DA trigger, will mean that double action shots will not be this guns strong suit.

The fit and finish on the gun seems OK considering the price

I had it to the range today and put 100 rounds of Norinco 85gr commercial (non corrosive) ammo through it. There were zero issues and it worked flawlessly. I was a little worried because I had forgotten my loader but the mags took 10 rounds without much struggle. The gun has a decent SA trigger and wasn't as snappy as I was led to believe 7.62x25 might be. As for firing in DA....forget it...very long pull and very heavy.

Overall, for a center fire pistol for less than $400 (on sale for $299 in this case) I feel that I more than got my money's worth.

As for accuracy....I'm not a great shot but it seemed decent enough to me. i was ringing 6" steel plates pretty regularly at 15-20 yards and this target was shot at about 15 yards

great to finally see one of these back from the range
thank you so much for the info and report
I've been on the fence for a while on getting either one of these or the 1911 to go with my other one but now I think im going with this one as the ammo is much cheaper to shoot
I can see myself ordering soon.
how are the sights fixed or adjustable
thanks again.

The trigger certainly does look a little farther forward shaped when I compare with my P226 looking at it from same angle. Combined with those thick rubber grips I can see it would be problematic for many shooters. For $299 on sale seem like good value though.

Well it's ordered and can't wait
I know its not going to be a p226 nor 92fs but for the price , and price of ammo it will do just fine....
I too will report when it arrives
will be counting how long for cfo to complete paperwork
Glenn.

Very nice!
Wish CanAm can made the Masuer C96 clone in 7.62x25cal.

be happy they don't, 7.62x25 is way to hot for C96's....new metallurgy might make the design strong enough.....but it would be iffy. The rounds are interchangeable, but loaded to greatly different pressures.

I've decided to think of mine as being a single action.;)

I'm not sure if you could get an aftermarket set of grips to work with some fitting. Getting rid of that thick rubber from both the front and back strap would do a lot to make the dimensions of the grip a more normal size. I mean, due to the cartridge, it's really the front to back dimension that is unusual.

I personally find the grip comfortable but shooter's with smaller hands may struggle.

Hey
if you were to compare to a t33, which would you say shoots better yes I know each gun is different from my gun to yours but just asking..
I love shooting my 1911 but 45acp isn't cheap so my t33 doesn't like the surplus ammo much so I'm hoping this will do fine and I do have larger hands, I fell the t33 would fit my hands better if thicker grips installed maybe
how is the mag release smooth or sticky?
not sure what other guns you have to compare it to but if you were to compare it say if two put together this is what you would get feel of a ....shoots like a.....
when mine arrives I'm gonna shoot the crap out of it..I usually do a good break in at the range..
when I got my gsg 1911 last year I put 550 rounds through it in the first day before switching out guide rod and such.
anyways for the price you can't go wrong and can't expect much.
hows the take down.
I'm told holsters will be difficult to find as its based off the p226 but larger
any more photos so far yours and the ones on the canada ammo are all I've seen.
thanks
Glenn.

Can't really help you as I've never shot a Tokerov...held one at a gun store but really didn't like the grip so that was that.

Aluminum alloy means it's pretty light....feels more like my polymer Grand Power than any of my steel guns (Browning Hi Power's, CZ 75 etc)

Mag release seems fine. Mine drop free without any issue.

take down (and re-assembly) is dead easy

One odd thing...mine came with what appears to be a spare trigger bar spring and a slide stop spring....not quite sure why?....I would have thought a spare recoil spring would have been more useful.

Another interesting thing is that the manual refers to the gun as a ".30 bore PX-3". I'm guessing it is sold under that name in different markets.

mmmm..good to know
I emailed canada ammo and no extra mags as of yet..next year..
sorry for all the questions but your the only one who has posted about it..
good to know its light
have you tried to install anything on the tach rail yet..
sorry last one for now
hows the pull to rack it? and does it feel loose in any way like some of the norc 1911 some of them are really loose frames and people complain about that
thanks again
I wish we had more stores around my area that I could go and actually see what I'm buying
I was going to get the norinco p226 clone but didn't want to have to start from scratch with ammo as I have half a crate of the surplus for this one and like the price of it.
told this is similar to the norinco clone but your post has helped me out a lot thanks again
Glenn.

^ Sorry, just noticed your questions

No, nothing tried on the rail. (I actually don't own anything like a light or laser etc)

Racking the gun is pretty easy. I don't know the spring weight but it seems fairly light to me.

Slide to frame fit seems a bit on the loose side. I can wiggle the slide slightly side to side if I grasp it at the rear serrations with the gun in battery....something I can't do with any of my other guns (Browning, Grand Power, CZ etc).....I've never handled a Norinco 1911 so I can't say if it is better, worse or the same in this regard.

I just received my Dominion Arms 7.62 x 25 on Friday the 28th. I knew I had to have it when I saw it on Canada Ammo. I have not taken it out yet, plan to this week some time. Out of the box it looks good, considering I only paid 300 for it. A few machine marks on the inside of the slide, exterior finish is very good. The mag release works flawlessly but the double action trigger pull is very hard, no idea how many pounds, but a lot more than my other handguns. I also own the NP58 (P226 clone) in 40 cal, and even compared to this gun, it is quite a bit more. The grip on it is huge, to say the least, like someone said, they could of went with the hard plastic like their P226 clone, rather than wrap around rubber grips. It definitely would of slimmed down a grips a tad. It does look great though. Cannot wait to try it out this week. I have loaded some FMJ and cast bullets in Starline brass.
I also own a Hungarian TT33 that I customized. I have installed a pair of aftermarket grips, I had purchased for Marstar, which gave it a sporterized more modern look, as well as installing some aftermarket magazine caps with the finger extension. It to had a very stiff trigger, I had purchased a new sear, and trigger. It now shoots like a dream, with a beautiful trigger pull. I can group 5 shot groups fired with one hand at 60 feet into a 2 1/2 -3" circle with both cast and FMJ homeloads. Hopefully my new Dominion Arms can do better. We will know this week, and I will report back to you. My NP58 in 40 cal shoots superbly. Can Am sure have some great deals. Later

My P762 arrived today and I installed the original Sig grip panels from my Sig 226 MK25. Not a perfect fit but I didn't need to modify them, they don't impede any function and they do make the P762 a bit smaller in the hand. For a $300 pistol I'm happy with the result.
