300blk or 22LR

Do you reload? If yes, I'd go the 300BLK route. 22LR conversion kit can be swapped into your stock 223 AR. Unless you meant a dedicated 22LR with a 22LR AR barrel etc.

The cheapest you'll be able to reload 300BLK is triple the price of .223/5.56.
Will you shoot it less than you would your .223/5.56?
In the last 3 days I went through 600 rounds of 5.56 (handloads)
I wouldn't have done the same with 300BLK.

I reload 300BLK, it isn't that expensive but finding appropriate powder is the hardest thing these days.
You can't just use random rifle powders, I use H110, LiL'gun, and A1680. There are a few others that will work but not many.
I love 300BLK and currently have 3 rifles chambered in it (2 non restricted). It's great for target shooting and close range deer hunting. Every store always has 30cal bullets and the 300BLK can shoot any weight bullet.
Both of my non restricted rifles are shooting the same 155gr A-max load sub moa.
I've always wanted a dedicated 22 upper but I wouldn't have one without a 300BLK upper first.

Cool. With the 300blk getting more popular now , i dont think ammo will be an issue. As far as accuracy goes, with it using 30cal bullet so it should have the same accuracy as a 308 then right?

No ballistics are not at all the same as a 308, I repeat NOT AT ALL.
Go to wikipedia for the ballistics info on the 300 blk

If you want a 308 ar get a 308 ar

Think of it more as a hopped up 30 Carbine.

150 grainers seem the cheapest bullets. I've been using hornady and have just picked up some frontiers to have a go with. 20 to 27 cents a bullet either way.

It's a fun round

I already have an ar308, hence either 300blk or 22lr.

Hmm. Ok hopped up 30carbine

110gr at 2200-2400fps, 155gr at 1900-2000ps, and 208gr at 1000-1100fps depending on barrel length and all these cycle in my semi auto's.
If you go with a bolt action you have a lot more flexibility with powders and velocities. Can't go much faster but can definitely go slower.

The only rounds I haven't been able to get close to 1 moa are the 208gr subsonic loads but I have gotten them under 2 moa at 100yds. I haven't done a lot of testing with them though so I'm sure they can do better.
