Paint Choice for a Gun

I have a pink plastic handgun. (It was available cheap.) I would like to paint it dark earth. How do I do that in such a way that the paint does not chip and wear off quickly?

I assume I can strip the meat parts, degrease and then paint. Do i use auto primer and then some kind of flat enamel, or does it have to be Durocoat? How difficult is that?

This is the kind of question (and answer) I am looking for. Is is practical (economical) to ceracote a single pistol?

Is painting metal different than painting polymer?

You can always arma-coat it. Bonds perfect to plastic and will last a lifetime.

Krylon fusion is an OK budget solution. It is somewhat durable with several coats but it will wear over time. My experience is with grips & handguards for AR's.

Cerakote is the only one that lasts and it not so thick you have to make it thiner
But unless the prep is done right. They are all bad.
Krylon is crap.

To do the frame of a glock is $100.00 sent dismantled. add $25.00 if you wish to have the disassembly and reassembly.

Now that is really interesting. I would only have to degrease the frame, leaving the parts installed.

Don't you think that statement is just a little overly optimistic ? Unless it never leaves the safe of course.
