Buying/fitting a recoil pad to a Remington 870

Hey guys~looking for some direction here. I'm looking to refinish a vintage 870 walnut stock, and, add this exact type/color of recoil pad; http://www.midwayusa.com/product/715918/remington-recoil-pad-remington-11-87-12-gauge-super-magnum I have a few questions though;

1. Anyone know where I could buy this in Canada?
2. How exact is the fit of these, and, can they be sanded?
3. Is there an alternative recoil pad, brown with a black spacer, that IS available in Canada and can be sanded to fit if req.?

I did refinish a 60s-era Remington that had a red recoil pad like this, and it sanded/shaped very much like the wood stock it was attached to. I wondered (at the time) if that was simply because the rubber had gotten hard/brittle with time.

If I read this right you are looking for this older type of recoil pad, in which case I would have to ask if this would work for you?


I took it off my wingmaster and put a Remington gel pad on.

It's actually a darker brown than that pic looks but you get the idea.
