10 round Legal sks PICS

I made a 10 round SKS a couple years ago with an XCR pistol mag, but I was never happy with my method of holding the magazine in. I'm going to have to get one of these adapters and revive that project!

Mine still has the bolt-hold-open feature, but I wonder if I can keep that with this adapter. Hmmmm...

I took mine out. There just doesn't seem to be enough room for it.
 
in post 31 you say "then make Canadian Legal pistol mags work"

Can you explain how you did this and please forgive my ignorance. Im just looking for pointers because I would like to do this mod but again was put off of doing it as you have to modify the mags to work. how were you able to do this and keep the mags legal?

You grind out all the slag metal that is under the bolt to make more room for the mag. Its that simple. grind, grind, grind TILL the mag fits.

Each gun is going to be different. I have no room on mine. If all the machining was the same form rifle to rifle, this would be so simple. But this adapter has to fit every style of sks out there, Chinese civilian, Chinese military, all Russian models, yugo..ect. I just measured up my Russian sks, and there is way more room for this conversion. Some will go Easy, some will be a battle to the end.

I am interested in trying a MagWedge rail this would make for a pretty sweet rifle with the rail and the AR mag mod.

Lone Ranger thanks for posting and sharing. This is my new favorite CGN thread. First the AIA ten rounders for the M305, and now this. Tres cool. The only thing that worries me now are the illegitimate charges I'll face when Mr. Constaple pulls me over and finds my modified SKS. I can see the SWAT team now, I can almost feel the handcuffs.

I just installed a MagWedge rail on my brother in laws rifle. Works 100% . Also put on a Redfield Revenge 3x9 scope. here is a pic of mine......

Nice project. Did you apply anything to the bare metal after polishing (barrel etc.) to keep from rusting. I recently polished my sks and have yet to decide/figure out. Clear coat vs powder coat($) vs keeping it oiled.
