Source for Mannlicher Style/Butterknife Bolt handles

They aren't very difficult to make - my guess is whoever you use to weld it on, can also supply/make it. However check ebay if you don't want the trouble of making it. There was a guy on 24hr flogging the ones he was making both on 24hr and ebay.
 
I always figured they were handmade, at least that's how I would approach it. Same with any bolt handle for that matter.

Piece of cake, and I get exactly what I want.

Try the local Salvation Army Thrift Store of similar establishment. There are lots of suitable ones in the Cutlery bins. You have to be selective as most of them are stainless steel but some good ones can be found if you go through their selection of table knives. There have also been articles of making a Mannlicher type bolt handle using table knife handles. Any good gunsmith can make you one.
 
I have never seen an actual butterknife handle being used, ever (well maybe once on some crazy thing).

Custom one-offs OTOH are the way to go IMO.

SS is an easy project, especially if the end user is going to do all the final polishing. ;)

It isn't as simple as implied here - assuming you want it to look professional. You don't want some gobbed-on limp wimp.

Take a look at the sculptured contours of an early 50s Brno if you want to see how a butterknife bolt handle should appear.

That is the look I am wanting to have but the catch will be to find a smith who can do the job or at least get it to the point where I can polish it up to finish it.
 
If you use google images and search "butterknife bolt handle" you will see many pictures of raw/freshly machined handles that show plenty to understand how to machine them. However, if you don't want the hassle - you could always buy one from ebay as I suggested in post #4.

If they are done correctly and nicely shaped and finished they look good, but none of them feel as good as a bolt knob when operating the bolt when shooting. I think the older Brno's have the nicest shape. You can always file one from suitable bar stock. Welding it on and doing a good job is difficult.

I would talk to a couple smiths to try and find one who wants to do the work, not sure if your handle is modular like the tikka or savage, but I'm guessing they will have to grab a piece of bar stock of the same metal and tig weld it on, you would save them time and your money if you have some bar stock in hand, and some pictures of the profile of another handle you like.

I mean no disrespect guntech, I know you've been in this game a lot longer then me, but I don't find any cons to comfort on a butterknife style knob, I can roll the bolt up and back with my forefinger and close with my thumb easier then the knob I had, though if I had hot loads and the cases weren't ejecting easily I'd rather beat on the factory bolt knob.

I'm not a gunsmith or a skilled millwright or anything, just have access to CAD and a creative nature, below are my pics of the savage knob I had waterjet and shaped in comparison to the stock knob, mostly motivated to build this for scope clearance but I prefer the new one obviously.
