All M&P Owners Should Watch This

In my experience, the stiff slide release often found on new M&Ps sorts itself out pretty quickly if you actually get out and shoot your gun instead of just fondling it.
 
Good bit of information, although his delivery wasn't the best.

That said, it's likely that this is only affecting M&P's older than 2013/2014 as I've had no slide stop issues with my 2wk old M&P9. I'd say it takes the same amount of pressure as a CZ SP-01, a Sig or even my Browning Buckmark. Or I've just got Hercules thumbs?
 
Yeah my MP9 slide release is sticky and doesn't work if you just press the button. But all I have to do is pull the slide a bit back first and it's fine. No biggie...a bigger problem is the crappy trigger! Luckily my Apex FSS trigger kit just arrived today :) Anybody who has one...do you prefer the 4lb or the 5.5lb spring?

Why do you need spare parts for a machine that is so perfectly made that it will never break?

You sound like a Chrysler owner who won't buy a crappy car without a dealer close by.

Just buy a good gun/car in the first place, and you won't need to worry about spare parts.

If you put 2000 -5000 rounds through your pistol each and every month, year in and year out, like most competitive shooters do then things are going to break. That's just a fact. Shoot 200 rounds at the range every now and again and, yeah, a well made gun may last forever. Replacement parts are just a fact of life for anyone that shoots considerable quantities of ammo; regardless of the make of their gun.

If you want to know what guns really hold up, talk to the gunsmith at a range that does walk-ins or rentals like The Shooting Edge. You may be surprised to see what guns don't stand up to extreme use very well. ;)

Well, mine is fine, thankfully. I try very hard to listen to people when they think or know about fixing an issue. Some are misguided but some have great ideas, so I remain open minded and don't slam anyone for trying to help others. As far as quality of guns goes, hell, all these companies having been producing for years and selling tons of guns of all levels of quality. There will never be a perfect gun because mankind itself is not perfect ,though we try to be. Every gun will have great qualities and not so great qualities, that's just a given, unless of coarse you happen to own the best gun in the world, then congrats to you ! The rest of us will either like it the way it is or try to improve it to our liking, because, that is what people do ! Just like reloading, the factory stuff is great but the reloaders, like myself are trying to make it better and there is nothing wrong with that. JMO :)
 
my M&P40 runs flawless. I'm the third owner. I fired two different factory loads and one handload during one range trip not a single issue.
