Hey Guys;

I'm curious who else bought one or two or MORE?

At $199 for the NS522 and $125 for the JW20... I couldn't resist!!! VERY pleased with these two rifles & can't wait until Xmas!!!

Cheers

Bought the first ones for myself, then more when my hunting partners saw them. The JW 20 feeding is improving the more I fire it

Where is the option that reads "I'll never buy Norinco because I'd rather have fewer good guns than more cheap guns"?

For 95% of the Nork line up I would agree....I've had just about every model they make at one point or another. For me anyway there was always something "wrong" with everyone of them. I'm a fussy ##### though and I don't like to see corners cut, or "let's make this as cheap as possible" on my guns. I do however have a couple that were not a total disappointment... Be it fit/finish or function. The NS522 is a nice action and barrel, in a mediocre but tolerable stock, with a decent trigger, and remarkable accuracy for not just a Nork, but many .22's on the market today. I have 2 of these now.
The other is an M14...other then the usual excessive headspace it's a pretty solid and tight gun. Also shoots very well with irons... Which I prefer anyway.
For the rest if the line, I probably would turn it down if offered for free. Not cuz I'm a snob, or hater or anything, but because I've been there and done that. There is stuff now for not much more $$ ($50-$200 in some cases) that is 10 times the quality of some of the Norks.... SAM 1911's, Girsan 92 clones, many USA made AR15's, Turkish Shotguns..... The budget firearm list doesn't just include norinco anymore.

Good reply, thank you. I have also heard less-than-horrible reviews about their M14.

I just placed an order on my first budget firearm, being one of the Turkish Warriors from Corwin Arms. That said, I have a much higher acceptance for imperfection from a fold-in-half shotgun than I do from a rifle or handgun.

The ns522 seems to be more of a "inexpensive" gun than a "cheap" gun. I see there being a difference. I'm not a fan of buying junk either, but if I can get a $200 rifle that will compete with my others that cost 3 or 4 times as much, count me in. I've also never understood the point of spending a pile of extra cash for something that doesn't shoot any better. If mine shoots as well as others are reporting, I don't care what it cost or who made it.

Oh it's a cheap gun, with all the normal Norinco trademarks.....don't kid yourself. There are tool marks, sharp edges, rough machining inside, all thrown into a POS chu wood stock that doesn't fit it properly lol
It's not a $200 gun comparable to an Annie, or Cooper, or Sako, its a $200 comparable to other $200 guns like Savage/Marlin that shoots as well or a bit better then their offerings out of the box. You will need to do a bedding job and free float the barrel to get it consistent as well, as the fit is pretty poor out of the box.

$200 for the gun, $20 for pilars and bedding plus a few hours with a file and stone and you have a very nice $220 gun.

If you are having feeding problems with the JW-20 Browning-Clone, take a good look at the chamber edge, esp. at the top, where the bullet has to slide past as it is fed from the magazine.

I have rounded two of them off and it has greatly improved the feeding. the chamber edges from new were very sharp and shaved a slice off the side of the bullet as it went by, occasionally taking enough of a bite that it stopped the feeding.
I used a crappy rotary fish hook sharpener, because I had it on hand at the time, anything from a Dremel tool, to some wet or dry paper wrapped around the tip of a pencil, would work. Care and patience, eh!

I have replaced one extractor on one, used a Browning extractor that cost me $20, and dropped right in, been working ever since.

Nice to have a rifle around that you won't shed a tear over a scratch or dent, that still works well enough to justify keeping.

Cheers

What would you expect for the price? I have a $2500 Anschutz that I regret buying but I doubt I will ever regret the purchase of the NS522. The Annie definitely looks better but to be honest, the accuracy is disappointing. I really don't care about the looks as much as I care about how they shoot.

I bought two Jw's and 1 NS522. I was playing with my dad's Browning SA-22 about a month ago.....Really wanted to steal it on him (He wont sell it lol) but decided to put it back....Then I'm checking on CGN and see the same gun pretty much for about the same price my dad paid for his Browning.....But 30 years later. So I had to buy two of them.

I got a 522. Wasnt even looking to buy any guns but my friend bought 2 so i broke down and got one off him. Seems nice enough and very happy with what i paid for it.

Didn't get the jw20, but thats because i already have a FN in the safe and don't want to cramp it full of 22s.

I just inspected & put trigger locks on a JW20 & NS522 that are going into long term storage... I hope one day to give them to my daughter if she is interested in the Shooting Sports... Fingers crossed!!!

VERY HAPPY with my CanAm purchases! THANK YOU CanAm!

Cheers

NS522 mags

How much would be the most you would pay for NS522 mags? $40? $50?. You never know maybe we can find something with enough interest.

KFS has mags for $60US each.....gun with 2 mags is $199CAD. I would pay $20 for a mag at the most.... I know they are "rare" but they are also made like ####. I'm positive there are common mags out there that can be modded to fit these guns.....it's a square 22lr mag, there has to be someone making something like that we can cut a hole in...
