The location, mutiny, methods of hunting the Lions (except for the inclusion of "Remington", who did not exist and wasn't there, Pattison did it by himself) are accurate. The characters surrounding Pattison are largely fiction in the movie, but the message still gets through. He really did sit on the scaffold, really did build the train car trap, and he really did find the lair. The deaths in the night are real too, they returned incessantly. I still enjoy the movie through and through despite its liberties, the book and real account is even better and covers far more material than just the Lions, they were merely one modest part of the project in Pattison's eyes.
