CZ announces the CZ 1911 A1!

A 1911 is all made of steel, any 1911 with polymer, alloy or aluminiun parts is not interresting... Just saying... JP.

I was just thinking the other day, what the world really needs is another gun company selling 1911 clones.

I'm just hoping for someone to make an actual A1 style with a nicely polished deep blued finish rather than this bead blasted, blackened, or parked stuff. Other than Colt, I mean.

The world has enough 1911 with rubbish finishes.

With better metallurgy and heat treatment process, Cast against Forged might be a thing of the past. Depending on the application, I can see very minimal difference in hardness and overall quality with Casting leading the way to cheaper manufacturing process. Some will definitely disagree, but the choice is yours, still.

Smartarse. :p. CZ says: STOCK/FRAME:Alloy Frame

If it was steel, it would mention it somewhere (like Ruger did). Alloy by itself implies some light weight non ferrous metal.

Next we will have a cast vs forged debate in here

Everybody on here is such a badass operator that the type of steel their gun is made of will mean life or death oh whats that? You care becouse you dong want parts to break? Right your maybe 5k rounds a year is a real punishment on the gun.

Skoal maybe you only shoot 5000 rounds a year but many people who would potentially buy this gun probably shoot a hull of a lot more and yes metallurgy IS important in the life of a gun. CZ is already known for it's soft cheese metal even though they have one of the best designs made.

Really, ummmm I learned something to day I did not know. Is this an internet thing or based upon some testing?

Take Care

I think your wrong I think the guys that shoot alot of ipsc wont buy this gun, with it in the same price range as sti I dont think it will have the competition following the shadow does.

When I read the cZUSA catalogue it states the trigger is aluminum and the frame and slide are forged steel.

I have never heard of any CZ having "soft cheese metal", please elaborate.

Product Description

2015 brings the launch of the first pistol made in the USA that bears the CZ name. The CZ 1911 A1 is an homage to the past, a 5” government sized model built as a modern incarnation of the original 1911 A1. That original was adopted into US service in 1924, ‘improving’ on John Moses Browning’s original design. Our version makes several small ‘improvements’ as well, swapping the checkered plastic grips for checkered walnut, adding serrated slide stop, magazine catch and mainspring housing and using a stainless steel barrel. For the sake of the shooter, we elected to forgo the lanyard loop, and added a taller set of sights that are easier to use, with the front dovetailed in so that it can be swapped more easily. Though there are a number of changes, we feel the CZ 1911 is still true enough to the original service pistol to wear the A1 name.

Built with much tighter slide-to-barrel and slide-to-frame tolerances than vintage models, the result is much improved accuracy without compromising reliability. Built without a trigger safety, the trigger itself is aluminum, with pull specified at 5 lbs., give or take a pound. Its forged carbon steel frame and slide are finished in a black oxide and it ships with two 7-round magazines.

It suddenly becomes interesting again. But with those features and finish it has to compete with the SAM military at the low end and the Remington R1 or even STI GI further up
