I'm looking at doing some coyote hunting at close ranges this winter with my shotgun. My initial thoughts were to go with a patternmaster with regular 3" #4 buckshot. Does anyone have any choke/load that has worked well for them? I'm open to suggestions. I know dead coyote is popular but I wonder if it's worth the cost.

i have used #4 buckshot but i like f size better more pellets per load that said coyotes are not that tough i have dropped them with #6 birdshot while hunting small game

I am going to give these a try this winter!

Hornady has 3 coyote loads. I thought the 2 3/4 #4 buck looked good but im not sure I like the idea of 24 pellets vs. the 41 you get with 3". Probably a signficant increase in felt recoil too though.

3" #4 buck with a full choke patterns good in my 12 gauge out to 60 yards, I have taken 2 yotes with my 20 gauge using a mod choke and #3 buck. Just pattern your gun, if you can get more than 5 pellets in a 10" circle your good to go
