I have taken a few very nice mulies and whitetail over the years. Typically I,d mount them on a plaque. However, I wouldn't mind having a mulie and whitetail mounted. What are the typical costs these days and do most taxidermists carry a few extra capes. ( how much extra)?

Here in Quebec, I pay $450.00 for a shoulder deer mount. Most of them have extra capes. I have in the past paid $150.00 for a deer cape. Add oak backing and plaque and you are over the $550.00 mark. I also know that my guy is on the low side. Where are you located?

In Alberta you are looking in the $750 range for something you'd be proud to display in your home.

Harvey Kay in Maple Creek does fine work but it'll cost you. Orion in Moose Jaw as well. I have seen some other work done and it was good but not like Harvey's. He's well worth the investment. A friend of mine Quebec shot a big non-typical white tail out here a few years ago and I caped it from mid body and he took it home and had his guy do it with the front legs leaping out of the wall. He sent me pictures when it was done and it looked like Homer Simpson did the work and it only cost him $600. The antlers should be removed from it and sent back west to be done right.

I have a mulie and a whitetail sitting at the taxidermists now in Saskatoon. I've checked out his work and its truly amazing. Costing me $780 per mount. Cheap work isn't good and good work isn't cheap!

Hey Bearkilr. I know I am an easterner but I do know there is a difference in a muley and a white-tail Cape. That's what I wanted to know. But you're hilarious

He's looking for both, see here :)

I had Orion do two an Antelope and a mule They ran about 750 if I remember but man he does good work. I will always use him for my trophies. Check out some of Rion's work on his FB page. I watched him put together that wolf pack running and they look alive when you are in the room with them. Amazing talent

Im paying $510 US + tax ($554 ish total) For my NY buck this year. Took him to the "buck and doe shop" and the taxidermist that works out of there does great work. Heard of 2 other local guys in southern Ontario that friends are having their deer done by local artists (i didn't know about) will Have to check out their mounts when done. Seems like 2014 is then year of big deer!

$600 for a shoulder mount from Robillard Taxidermy in QC. A little on the pricey side compared to others in the area, but his work is top notch and worth the extra $100 or so. It takes a long time for him to get to them though, I've been waiting over 2 years for it.
