Taxidermist costs

Starts around $450 (supply your own not shot up cape) and up around here. I've gone the European look for $100-$140 because the wife hates deer heads....
Definitely check out your taxidermist's previous work. I've seen a few real nightmarish looking mounts (think Walking Dead meets road kill) coming out of some home workshops. Price does not reflect quality of work 100% of the time.

Can somebody suggest a few taxidermist names in southern/central Ontario? I don't mind paying a bit more for top notch work.

I had Orion do two an Antelope and a mule They ran about 750 if I remember but man he does good work. I will always use him for my trophies. Check out some of Rion's work on his FB page. I watched him put together that wolf pack running and they look alive when you are in the room with them. Amazing talent

He did my cape buff, impala and civet from my Zimbabwe trip. He also did my muskox. Outstanding work. The Bengal tiger he did was WILD!

Alfs Taxidermy. GREAT WORK just a little east past Toronto. Does great work

Advance taxidermy subs a lot of their work out to fellow taxidermists.

Im paying $510 US + tax ($554 ish total) For my NY buck this year. Took him to the "buck and doe shop" and the taxidermist that works out of there does great work. Heard of 2 other local guys in southern Ontario that friends are having their deer done by local artists (i didn't know about) will Have to check out their mounts when done. Seems like 2014 is then year of big deer!
