What are your thoughts on velcro side saddles?

S&J velcro side saddle on a Rem 870 express with a Knox black ops II stock.
I actually got rid of the gun with the stock on it because it kicked in such an odd way.

Interesting that you mention the "kick". I was watching a few videos/reviews and there are complaints on the recoil being felt in the cheek/gun jumping from side to side. I wouldn't give up on the velcro just yet. Do you remember if you degreased with the alcohol swab prior to applying the adhesive backing?

He said the velcro on the gun wasn't the issue it was the side saddle detaching from the velcro

See post # 19. Maybe you're not familiar with how these are set up (I'm not being smart/sarcastic). The side saddle has the hook velcro and the separate strip of loop velcro is "glued" to the receiver.

I know exactly how they are setup because I run them on all my shotties. In post 19, he clearly stated it was NOT the glued velcro detaching from the receiver but that the actual side saddle was detaching and falling off. So I have no idea what your point is because as he stated the glued part stayed secure to the receiver.

The Velcro attached the the shotgun reciever did not come undone. The side saddle Velcro would not stay attached to Velcro on the reciever. It's would "rip off" from the recoil.Brand new product.

So what does that have to do with alcohol swab on the receiver prior to attaching the velro strip? You are really making no sense to me.

Yep, I'm getting mixed up here. I misread his post where he stated the velcro did stay glued to the receiver. It's the velcro hook and loop that weren't sticking to each other. Thanks for clarifying. What a mess lol.

I used Velcro (S&J) and they kept falling off on me after 10 or so rounds.

There has to be somthing wrong with the soft size as there is no way the hook size on the DSC is not holding
We use US made. Us mil spec velcro, webbing anD thread
Send us your address and we will send youe more sticky velcro and try that.
I can hold my gun loaded sideway by the DSC without the gun falling off.
We are close to 9000 sold in the last few years.
I have one in my truck that been loaded for year and stuck in place.

Yeah I guess it depends if you want a chest rig solely for shotguns or multi application. I wanted molle modular capability so my vest could change with my shooting and caliber preference each outing. I'm really stoked about my vest and can't wait to start using it.

Maybe we should get a vest/rig thread going? I don't see much mention of them here. I never really considered them until recently, so maybe others will start looking into them if there's some discussion and user custom setup photos to look at?
This why we came up with our DSC pouch, no need to have a shotgun only rig with you have this on any rig, even a belt if our bot using a chest or war belt
can leave the shotgun cards in place or pull them out and put them on your gun

This is what I ended up putting together.

With this vest I get some shoulder relief during long, high round shooting sessions. And I can hold over 75 rounds (if I wanted to) without walking back to the truck or constantly bending down to tear open more boxes. Plus I can effectively separate slug from buck and bird shot with the different pouches. This is more of a comfort and convenience rig than for speed or drill one. I didn't want a velcro side receiver saddle or anything hanging off my hip or down my leg either. So at $115 to put together, its a rather good solution for me.

Also, after shooting a pump, I can load the pouches with lots of .303/30-30/x54/x39 or whatever rifle I'm also shooting that day.

Good customer service, as expected from this guy.

Just to clarify... I'm 99.9% positive it was the way the black opsII Knox stock kicked and was no fault of the S&J side saddle.
In fact, I plan on purchasing another S&J Velcro side saddle for my mossberg 500 because the quality of the product was so good.
And yes that stock also bruised my cheek. That's why I sold the gun.

Cheers to all.

How I ran mine on my 930, no shells ever fell out. I even had them mounted in a very unconventional way:

And the typical way:

How hard you ask? despite my misses (doh), I never dropped a shell (that's me at the end there calling "out"):

That was with both carriers full in the above config with me loading from the belt mostly (I did pull two shells out of the receivers holder, but I stopped afterwards, the one on the forend is still full)

I ran them hard and neither one ever had a shell shake loose.

I really need to get back to shooting 4 gun again :(

My s and j saddle has held up great for years of 3 gun and camping, 4x4 bush abuse. Great setup.

I've had a couple s&j ones over the years. I have one that's about 2 years old that's still sticks together well, but the Velcro is coming off the receiver. 3 other ones are still sticking just fine.
