Is this good lead????

I was taking down an old chimney and the flashing was all lead sheets. Must be 40-50 feet of the stuff and 20+pounds. Is this stuff any good for casting? It does have tar/chalking on some of it. I don't know if that gets melted away in the smelting process. I've never made bullets and know nothing. If so what's the value. I just want it I go to someone who can use it and maybe get a little something in trade.

Yes it's fine, it's pure lead so a bit of tin and antimony will help harden it up.

Yep, when you melt it down all that crap will either burn off or rise to the top so you can skim it off.

if you melt it into ingots $1 to $1.50 per pound. as is i wouldn't pay more then $.70/lb. if it's 20 pounds i would likely offer $10.

Black powder shooters will use it as is. For modern pistol or rifle it will need some alloy added to it to harden it up. $1/pound is fair, a little cheaper in quantity.

Rotometals includes shipping in their prices, and least, shipping in the US.

Shipping the killer. The yanks have flat rate boxes that make it really cheap to move some weight around, we, unfortunately, do not. Makes it pretty much a local sale only option. Or it gets really expensive.

If you buy it from South of the line, it is gonna hurt mainly from the freight perspective, otherwise, it's just metal bars.

If you had a mailbox on the US side, you could keep an eye on castboolits for one of the many guys each year that run up some bills and need to clear out some inventory of lead, solder, tin, or type metal, and load right up for pretty cheap.

Watch your costs adding up, is about all I can tell you. Sometimes the deals are there, other times, buying local makes sense, depending on the source, and what price they are selling at.

Depends on what he's doing. If he wants things that will deform like the bases of minnies it's just perfect

Tin will harden lead but Antimony is the key. I use added tin to help fill out of the mold more than for hardness.
