I am in the market for a Tikka 6.5x55. I have owned a T3 Hunter and it was great. Sorry I sold it. I was thinking of Tikka in 695 model. Any comments? Are the older Tikkas better quality and just as accurate as the T3s? All comments welcome.

I've owned both and personally prefer the T3. The 695 sports a beefier action and as such weighs a bit more than T3. Not an unbearable weight by any means and the 695 is fine rifle, I just like the T3 better for handling. I have a T3 in 6.5x55 as well and find it a nice fit. The medium cartridge and the long action rifle are a good combination for a re-loader. Accuracy wise I'm sure they are comparable - mine were anyway.

Tikka 695

I have a 695 stainless synthetic in 6.5x55mm. It's heavy but she's a keeper for sure!

If I were you, don't hesitate to buy a T695. I think deerfarmer has it about right. The 695 and T3 are great rifles, but the 695 has a slightly beefier action. The only other significant difference that might affect a few shooters is the contour and thickness of the pistol grip. The 695 has a "fatter" grip compared to the T3. If you have shorter fingers, you'll probably appreciate the somewhat thinner pistol grip of the T3.

Since the OP previously owned a Tikka, he will be well aware of the reputation these guns have for superior quality, reliability, and accuracy.

I agree. I have used a 595 and find the extra thick grip combined with the Tika trigger is a great combination for me. I think people with short fingers would not like them.
