We are having a Skills and Drills Fun Shoot on Dec 13 at the Camrose Indoor Range. You will need a .22 rimfire rifle with or without scope, and a centre-fire handgun/holster/concealment garment that meets the IDPA rules. In the rifle you will shoot 3 position: prone, kneeling and standing. In the pistol you will practices 8 stages from 5 to 20 yard position based on IDPA shooting skills e.g. shooting on the move, reloading with retention, etc. This is NOT an IDPA match but simply a fun skills and drill shoot.

See the Camrose Shooting Sports Association website for more details.

Pre-registration is required and pizza lunch will be provided.

Email me at robertpaddon@Hotmail.com to register.

Certification requirements and fees?? (I now see fees is covered on the webpage)

Might set-up a carpool if out of town / non members are allowed to attend. (Edit: Confirmed on webpage)

Nice to see a range putting on events during the winter.

robpad can correct me if I'm speaking out of turn, but per the last match, nobody needed any specific credentials (e.g.: Black Badge, New Shooter's Orientation, etc). You need to be able to not have a negligent discharge as you draw from your holster. If this means drawing from your holster slowly so you do not have a negligent discharge, so be it. If you are not comfortable with drawing from a holster, then you can start from the "low ready" position. It's all about having fun. He's putting on these matches to give folks something to do while the outdoor ranges are cold and frosty.

The reason we are doing .22 rf rifles is that our indoor range is not certified for centre fire rifles.

The fees are $20 for Camrose members and $30 for others. This includes the pizza lunch.

As of this AM we have 10 guys who say they are coming out of 16 available position. One of the guys is bringing his girlfriend. She doesn't like using a 9mm so we are letting her try it with a .22 rf pistol. We will give coaching to the new shooters. If need be they can start with the gun at the low ready. This is a fun shoot to encourage and enlighten new shooters into competitive shooting.

this is an easy style of match to run at an indoor range. The course of fire is on the Camrose Shooting Sports Association website.

We had 11 shooter brave the freezing range to come out to the match. Last month we had the same weather for the shoot day. Honest I don't have it pre-ordered with the weather man.

We started shooting by 1015 and finished by 230 PM. 3 position rifle for thirty rounds and 8 pistol stages. Good fun and learning had by all.

till next month. Reload ammo over XMAS.
