I got my RPAL last June and after 6 months have just hit the 9 handgun mark. This kind of surprises me as I thought it would be 6-10 total at the most. Now I can see 15-20+ after the first year with ease.

How many did you end up buying in your first year of collecting?

Forget about first year averages. If you like them and can afford them ride on. I started off with a couple the first year, but purchases are based on opportunity
to get what you want. You seem to have found quite a few "Wants". I've gone years without buying and years where I bought more than I expected to buy. Enjoy!

I don't collect so I had one gun for several then acquired others as spares/backups.

Well, to each his own but I'm at least as interested in owning interesting guns as shooting them. (actually, I'm interested in doing both)

Fair enough, but its not shooting them that interests me. Its being able to shoot them well and on demand that interests me.

I'm not a collector. I've always been modest with the number of firearms that I own. I like guns that I shoot with, not guns that sit pretty in a safe.

So in my first year, I had two pistols: a 9mm and a .22 which both saw lots of ammo.
