I have been looking for some time to get a double stacked 1911. My dreams were crushed in October when my pistol funds that were supposed to buy me SV Infinity went towards my wedding. On another thread about 10mm 1911's the one forum member had pretty great things to say about the newer Para's and TBH they really caught my attention.

I have tried to research them on the web but there is not much to read about them since they started going by Para USA and manufacturing them in NC. Anyone on here have any experience with the new Para's? I am looking at the Pro Custom 14.45.

Any input would be much appreciated!

Are these even available in the Canadian market?
You could pin the mags but would you even be able to get them?

So far I have only saw one in Canada but I only just started searching them. I emailed Para and they answered every question but the one about availability in Canada.

The new Para's that have been made in the last year are much, much better then the older American made models. I was nervous about buying mine as well, I like most had heard about Para USA's horrible QC. But after doing my research and scouring the American forums I decided to buy mine last month and so far have been very happy with it and have had zero issues. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

Double stack 1911s just don't work all that well. Paras are simply awful; 2011s are built better but require tuning of magazines.

Is yours double stacked?

I thought 2011 was just a name for double stacked 1911's?

Seems the general consensus is start looking in another direction... I just saw lots of good reviews of there new line by gun bloggers in the states. I was really hoping there would be more people that have had more hands on experience with them on here.

I have the pro elite since last spring. Won many matches with it and still works fine. The ion bond finish is very durable and for the money, it's a great value.

Well, thanks for the info! I guess if i buy one I would be taking a leap of faith.

Sucks how a brand can completely ruin it's name the way Para Usa did.

I too have been eyeing the new Para's since they are so loaded with features but have been hesitant to pick one up based on prior horror stories. There are a couple retailers here in Ontario who carry them. I handled a Expert 10.45 and the slide to frame fit seemed pretty good. I had other things on the mind so I neglected to do other checks.
