We just got in a bunch of used firearms
some of them are in perfect shape, 90% plus original high gloss blueing.
while I know they are quality guns , I need a bit of help with a retail value.
These are all one owner from new and have not been shot in more then 15yrs.
all kept in gun cases cleaned and oiled.
I wish everyone looked after there guns like this person did.

1 S&W 6-17 .22lr 6 inch bbl High gloss blued, looks like factory walnut high grade grip 90-95% blueing, no pitting of scratching, small less then 1/4 inch of missing bluing on each size of muzzle, crane is perfect , with no movement, timeing is dead on.

2 S&W 19-4 357mag target gun 6 inch bbl with poly choke brand full PPC rib on top with target sight, pac-mar rubber grip.
90% bluing.
no pitting of scratching, crane is perfect , with no movement, timeing is dead on.
The PPC rib looks factor, its to pefect, that I cant tell if its aftermarket, if it is , id love to know who the gunsmith was.

3 colt trooper 4.1 inch bbl, paperwork says restricted.
85-90 % finish, most people would say 90%, small blueing loss at muzzle
factory full wood grips, srach shows all the way around on the cly from being fired.

Any advice on a retail price and anything I should look for would be helpful, the rest of the guns I know lots about.

I picked up a barely fired 17-3 for $560. It required a bit of gunsmithing due to a burr in the action that retarded the cylinder's movement. I would value one in similar condition (but without the burr) in the $600-700 range.

I would say the Model 19 would be similarly priced, maybe a little higher.

I can't comment on the Colt.

I agree, $600-$700 sounds about right. $700 should get you something basically mint with original box and papers.

The 19 will probably fetch less than the 17.

no boxes for the guns.
what do we thing the 19-4 is worth, and what do we know about the ppc style rib, do we know if it could be factory.
the trigger on it is much nicer then i.ve seen on other 357, but I don't know its its a target trigger, but it has large trigger shoe.
the only wheel guns I have are webleys

You say 6-17...do you mean 17-6? To my understanding 617's are stainless.

I'm going to look at a 17-6 at my club next week. The seller is firm at $675

Sorry, if it's been PPC'd I can't comment.

Webleys eh. Sounds like you and I were cut from the same Jib.

we did pay a bit for these guns, some we will not many anything at all on them, but need to make sure we at least don't loose our shirt on these and give them away.

add your 10 percent and cross your fingers...........hopefully you'll make enough on the one to off set the loses on the other...........in a I need money right now situation you should have paid 400, 400 and 350 respectively. The PPC kit will add value for some folks and take it away from others, it is kind of like crome valve covers on a chevy 350 engine, depending on who you talk to............

Sorry, I forgot about the PPC rib. It'll probably be worth less that way. I would expect $550-$650, but I usually see model 10's done up PPC style. I don't know if S&W ever made these line this but I doubt it.

Thanks for that.
I should hang out in the part of the forum more, you guys are so nice, when I ask about things in other parts it turns into a S*** show most times.
I know a lot about many types of firearms but not so much about moden wheel guns, I can see why they hold there value, they are very well built.
thanks again

I am quite surprised that no one has suggested you put up pictures yet if you want a value, I know your description is pretty good, but it is also vague at the same time...........there is always varying opinions of 90-95% just like there is for slight wear.

dave, just got them today, was just posting as its sort of a day off for me., looking for info.
plus if I did, CGN admin will delete this thread, because im a dealer.
You cant ask info without CGN thinking your trying to sell something. or at least im not smart enough to work out the right way to ask something without them thinking, im trying to sell something.
yes these may be forsale soon, but , no ones going to answer a post about pistol values in my forum, or even see it.
Again thanks for the info, hopefuly this thread is hear late as I have not got to read it all yet.

We know you're trying to sell something here... and as gun nutz we understand and appreciate it.

By the way, I couldn't find anything about S&W making a PPC barrel, but a lot of talented and not-so-talented gunsmiths made them. Are there any markings?
