Won't find too many bobcat or prairie dog around there. Plenty of coyote and deer though.

I moved away a few years back so I'm not too sure where you can hunt, other than start knocking on doors...

There are a few rod and gun clubs around that you might want to look into. Guelph, caimbridge and waterdown rod and gun are closest. Silverdale is in Hamilton. I don't have any personal experience with those clubs but someone will chime in.

I was a member at Guelph Rod and Gun. It was fine. 100m rifle range. Haven't been a member for a couple years, there was no "1 round in your gun" nonsense so I'd go back.
Also bridgeport is between Guelph and KW, I cannot comment on range havent been there but is less expensive.

If there is public land open for plinking, I don't know about it. There are some tracts of crown down towards hamilton, watch out for regular public use (ie horseback riders) though.

It was a rude awakening when I moved to the area. 99% is private land. Lots of hunting pressure - especially in the 1% public access conservations. You may want to knock on some farm doors and ask permission about coyotes. Most farmers are usually happy to allow you to take them out - same with ground hogs in the summer, which is a good way to get your foot in the door for the much coveted deer season. ATM, it's a little late for white tails, a couple weeks left of bows only season. You may want to look at driving up to saugeen conservations or to Bruce.
Caliber restriction to 270 or less south of hwy 89 - unless you're at a approved range.
For plinking you will need to join a club. I only know of ones in my immediate area. Don't know how much you're willing to drive to shoot.
Shoot me a pm if you want more info.

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that is only for small game hunting. If you are on private land you can plink with whatever.

You are correct - plink on private land with any caliber assuming municipal bylaws allow discharge. However AFAIK there is no WMU that permits rifle hunting deer south of 89. Finding private land for plinking is going to be difficult. A club is the best route IMHO.
