1911 outdoor winter fun. What's your choice of oil?

I used Mobil 1 grease in my Tokarev.

Of course that ammo is so overpowered that I probably could have run it on congealed treacle..

But, yeah - like our east coast poster above expressed: pistol is an indoor hobby in the winter. I shoot rifle if I go outside (and I still use bearing grease in the semis - I freeze up at 15 below, so they don't see colder)

G96 Synthetic CLP is RATED to -60 (-74F)
i switched over to it when i had my first AR freeze up WHILE FIRING at -44!!
since i switched over a couple of years ago ive never.... NEVER had another gun freeze up on me and i go out testing in -50 (just because i can!)

so when people ask what gun oil to use in cold weather there is only one that i recommend and that is G96.
plus it smells hella good!

When the temperature drops the viscosity of your oil is all important in terms of heavy equipment not so much with pistols, don't worry about it.
Shoot...enjoy have good groups and Merry Christmas.

i didn't until i moved up north.
boy was i surprised when my gun froze after 1 round down the pipe!

for some reason i couldn't wrap my brain around that - how a device that breathes fire could freeze up WHILE running.

anyways, switched over to G96 and have never had a problem again.
(and my guns smell nice!)

I use G96 CLP and my AR15 froze up last winter at -22c + windchill. I left the rifle on the rack for about 30 minutes and the bolt was good and frozen. Didn't affect my pistols though. I detail clean and stripped all firearms before and very light coat of G96 then basically wiped most of it off. I'm going to try to reproduce again this year, assuming I can get out when it's cold enough here. :)
