hi guys,
just got this thing. price was too tempting so I couldn't resist. I got her for only $345,- brand new and so far she looks pretty good to me.
the finish is not bad for the price and the balance with full mag is ok for what I can say before shooting. didn't shoot her yet since the range is closed and my wife didn't want me to test it in the basement.
so far I just took her apart and cleaned the heck out of it.
the trigger is kinda "fat" and the grip could be better. the sear cam needs fine tuning for smooth action.
overall for the price acceptable. waiting for a chance to put a few rounds through it and will give my thoughts on that later.
if anybody has one already, please give your opinion on this budget '45 acp

I am not familiar with the HP pistol. I have a pair of HP carbines. The trigger was poor, but I used a YouTube video to show me how to polish the key places. Triggers were much improved.

The carbines have been 100% reliable and in the last match I posted a higher score than 2/3 of the other shooters - all of whom had guns at least triple the cost of the High Point.

A High Point is like a moped. Lots of fun - but you may not want to be seen with one.

Enjoy.

I bought one as a novelty item. But...it shoots every time, is accurate, and to the point of aim(10m). Also bought a .40.

!!! They are $159 here....

Nothing wrong with them though. Heavy and ugly but they are good shooters and reliable.

I shot one in 45 once. Interesting, but not something on my list. If the trigger can be improved it would be a bonus, as I remember this one being pretty heavy and not at all nice.

I'd go for a cheap 1911 myself, but you're the captain of your own boat, so float it!

The trigger spring is the main culprit in the heavy trigger pull. Very east to change though.
There are videos out on how to change to a light coil spring.
Standard 1911 mags can be easily modified to fit in the HP45. Again videos are available.

These pistols are very accuarate and reliable. Enjoy it.

I was sooo tempted to buy one........................Paint it Orange and Put BLACK & DECKER stickers on it.
Ya cant beat the price !

Man for the price.... You could have got a 1911

Never tried the hi point, and it's ugly as sin, but I do hear they are reliable and accurate

$349!!??

At that price point I would have bought a Norinco Sport 1911.

I have 4 of them. All were remarkably accurate out of the box. 3 needed trigger jobs, but that is a well understood technology for the 1911. I replaced the fixed rear sight with an adjustable sight and now have very serviceable guns.

The new Norinco Sports are adequately finished.

I used to think they were well finished, until I bought a Rock Island and then a Colt.

That's all good feedback, thank you guys.
here at the east coast I have very limited access for dealerships. there are a few but all are at least 4 hours driving away when it comes to restricted arms.
the market for private used ones is almost not existent.
so the dealers have their monopoly on that market.

if someone has sources here in new brunswick I would be more than glad to hear about that.

I love near quite a few stealerships, but I more frequently purchase from ones that are more than 4hours away from me :)

There are options to local dealers. I have bought and sold over 100 guns on the EE section hereon CGN. No problems and some good deals. Also, the dealers on the banner at the top of the page have a wide selection at attractive prices. Click on Canada Ammo, for example.
