Borrowed the Long Branch from the Ranch for a look see, you know "What's the hoopla about?"
I'll try to get some snaps up tomorrow. It's a 1944 built unit...any features in particular that I need to capture snaps of?
Lots of stamped metal features; the magazine catch / trigger guard is innovative yet slightly crude isn't it?
 
Pictures of ---left side of receiver, butt socket, barrel near receiver, any markings on muzzle. This gives a fairly good idea of the rifle. It might be stamped "England" with proof markings and cartridge info which would indicate a rifle sold out of service and exported for sale from England, and it could also have an Importers name and address on it.

Also, could have a "C-broad arrow" marking on a Canadian one. If Savage made parts, should have a "square S" marking.

No expert by any stretch of the imagination, but...this is the crudest LE I've ever seen! But the metal is pretty much flawless as far as dings and such.
And it is marked England; but not caliber. No Broad 'C' arrow either.
Uncle Skip owned it, passed it to Dad rather than register it...guess that makes us the 'Outlaws' in the family, eh?
 
I think that's just a fabricated trigger guard. I have read about them but never really seen one. I wish I had one on my gun! very cool.

about the 30 on the trap door. I might be way off but it looks like it is a rack number and since its so low and were they put it I wonder if its a navy issued gun for on a ship? I am just guessing.
 
It's at home and I'm away now ( left this morning ). I can get my daughter to take a few better pics too if it's worthy of interest.
The trigger guard seems to belong on a STEN gun IMO. But it doesn't look cobbled in by any means.
Truth be told, I didn't take many pic's as I thought it another run-of-the-mill sportered LE.
Also it's not cut and has the sight ears too
 
always interested in pics of milsurps specially enfields. you can find a million pics of redone guns but its nice to see an original gun even ifs been sported. maybe you can get a little info out of it too.
 
I'll get my daughter to grab a bunch of pic's of markings and such with her cell phone. There is a number in the Cartouche spot on the Left side of the buttstock too.

how many of those trigger guards you want?
 
what parts of a 44 longbranch should have a serial on it? Mine has no serial on forearm or buttstock, but some markings.
