Well I got my CZ Shadowmate yesterday, big thanks to Nick and his team @ Reliable for making it happen, they are really great people to deal with. I sold my CZ Shadow 2012 Orange edition this summer after a couple of IPSC matches and felt bad about it afterward, it was such an accurate tool, I had to find another one but since the Orange is pretty rare and that coudn't find one for sale, I heard the Shadowmate was a notch above the Orange, I coudn't resist...

Here's the beast:

So today was the time to take it for a test drive. I went to my outdoor range with 200 rounds of S&B 124gr FMJ ammo (same as factory tests), it was a cold & humid afternoon, -4 deg. with light snow. Started out at the 25 yard line to see what the pistol could and by the time I had set my two targets my buddy showed up as promised with his Sig P210 Legend Target (I own one too) and two other types of 9mm ammo to do a little head to head comparo.

He also set some targets up at 25 yards, we lost no time and put those two up against each other. I was stunned, the Shadowmate bested the P210 one group after another, we pushed the targets away to the 40 yard line (the far end of the pistol range) and went at it again... Same results. We both thought it could probably be shooter related so we exchanged pistols and ammo back & forth to eliminate all possibilites. The verdict came pretty soon, the Shadowmate was more accurate than the P210 with all ammo tested today (S&B 124gr FMJ, CCI Lawman clean fire 124gr FMJ & some Centaure commercial reloads 124gr FMJ ammo) and that's whether my buddy or myself shot both pistols one after another with different stances and support (sand bag).

After everything was said and done, I had 30 rounds of S&B left, I placed a target at 12 yards and decided to shoot the remaining ammo with a modified isocseles stance and in between .35 and .4 splits between each shot, not as fast as I would shoot in a match but wanted hum"needed" some accuracy too.

This was the result:

All in all I'm very happy with the pistol and I never would have thought that the P210 was gonna end up in second place. Before any negative comments, keep in mind that this was an accuracy test, not a beauty contest, the Sig is a awesome pistol, beautifully crafted & finished. To my eyes it's worth the $3k+ price tag but for pure accuracy & performance the Shadowmate is one heck of a pistol. It's one of the most accurate 9mm I've shot (and I only shot 200 rounds with it), period.

Good Shootin'

How do those grips compare to the stock rubber shadow grips? Are they bigger/smaller?

They feel a bit thicker and have more grip since they are checkered aluminum, love them. The ones on my Orange were a bit thinner AFAIR but offered the same grip. I personally prefer the thicker on the Canadian ed.

Yep, the Shadow mate (and upper Canadian shadows) have a pseudo-medium thickness aluminum grip. IMO, the perfect thickness. I scored a second set for my backup gun (Orange) to go with the match gun (mate). Congrats on the purchase, and good shootin'!

I have the same CZ pistol in 9mm, it was the first pistol I ever bought. First trip to the range I walked away thinking I was a rock star! I couldn't miss with that thing, VERY accurate and fun to shoot. Next trip I had it and another pistol I picked up, the CZ shot the same, but the other pistol (Ruger) left me wondering what I had done wrong, turns out the Ruger is a solid reliable pistol, but no wheres near the accuracy of the CZ. Love my CZ, only trouble I have had is sourcing out a good holster for it, any leads?

It's killing me that I have a beautiful new Shadow in my house, and I cant get her out to play until that all-powerful scrap of paper from the CFC shows up... I want to see what all the hype is about!!!

OP Beautiful gun, and fantastic shooting.

I'm looking at going with VZ Grips for mine. I can't say I'm impressed with the stock rubber grips so far (without shooting).

The rubber grips are just fine, unless you have small hands. I like them over my VZ's

Thanks guys, I honestly thought I was gonna get a beating when my buddy showed up with his P210 for the accuracy shootout. I've owned one for over two years now and eventhough it only have a couple of hundred rounds through (safe queen, sunday driver), I coudn't imagine the shadowmate being more accurate.

AFAIR, the fit is a tad tighter than the 2012 orange I had (witch was still pretty tight!) and have a slightly better SA trigger (DA is about the same). I love the sight picture with the rear FO and the grip thickness is just perfect (they look great too!).

Can't wait to get back at it again :HFU:

Hmm, I could maybe be talked into upgrading to one with a test drive. Hear that CZ, you need to get these guns into the hands of someone active in each area.
