I got my 1st. ever Steyr in the mail the other day from a fellow CGN'er and I'm very impressed with this rifle.
It's an SBS Pro Hunter Big Bore in .450 Marlin and will be my rifle of choice for hunting in the wet stuff come
the new season.

The stock dimensions fit me perfectly and the rifle balances great for off-hand shooting. The weight is just a
tad lighter than 8.5 lbs. with the Talley rings that came with 'er and she sports a 22" barrel. The action is
smooth & rock solid and the 3 position safety works great. I like the fact that the magazine can be lowered
a touch to allow cycling the bolt without picking up fresh rounds. The trigger is fine the way it came on this
rifle....just a hint of creep and super crisp let-off at just shy of 3 lbs. I mounted a 1.5-4.5x Nikon Monarch
on this wee thumper and will be testing the package as soon as I get dies & more brass for load development.

Very nice ! Excellent pictures, Thanks for sharing !
I, for one am very anxious to see your range results as it should be a very serious package for Moose hunting, especially in the timber..

VERY VERY nice rifle! How's the recoil pad? :)

The recoil pad feels compliant enough with initial feel for density and is durable material like a Pachmayr Decelerator, but with the added feature of easy removal for changing out the spacers for shortening the length of pull. I've yet to shoot the bugger, but the loads I intend to use for it will consist of 405 gr. hardcast boolits pushed to 1500 fps. I won't be uncomfortable with this rifle fer sure compared to a Marlin Guide Gun.
;)

I have one. Recoil is very moderate and it shoots exceptionally well at 100yds. I am using 325 gr. Hornadys and the recoil is so light I shoot it from a bench without problems.
