I like and own both. Mine are not alike and are used for different purposes.
The o/u is longer, heavier with a single trigger, pistol grip stock and interchangeable choke tubes. It is meant for more deliberate shooting of clay targets that follow a predictable path. It is smooth and slow.
The sxs is lighter, shorter, with two triggers, an automatic safety, a straight grip and fixed chokes. It is meant for more instinctive and reactive shooting on flushing game. It is fast and dynamic.
Both are excellent for their purposes but not great at each other's. Horses for courses.

As already mentioned, the breechloading double gun, be that in SxS or O/U config usually have specific roles to play. An advantage the O/U has is that even a field model (with appropriate features) may also be utilzed for all kinds of clay shooting games, at least at an amateur level.
Like many other folks, I almost always reach out for a SxS for bird hunting and use O/U guns for clay shooting. I also use a SxS (field model with mobile chokes) that I have dedicated for fun Skeet only.
Some folks do not hesitate to deploy the SxS a bit further as the following image illustrates .....

That guy is an olympic shooter , his brother owns accuratereloading .com IIRC.
I generally choose what I shoot best, irregardless of appearance, but that monstrosity is far to ugly for me to even consider shooting it.
That's just poor sportsmanship. Sad, but to some people, winning is everything.More apologies to the OP. But, I know a competition shooter who improves his scores by reducing everybody else's. His MO is to show up late, take his time even though he's keeping everyone waiting, and using outlandish equipment. In short, anything that might distract another shooter. I can see that rib assembly rattling some shooters. (NOTE: He gets as much mileage out of distracting people with laughter as he does through frustration.)
Okay Ahmed, tells us about the picture, who is he and what the hell did he do the rib on that poor SXS?
The advantage of an O/U is that the bottom barrel is fired first and has little jump. Makes the second shot, if needed, a better shot.
