I just received in the mail today my Cabelas Fox Pro E-caller. For batteries it says to use 8 AA batteries which are connected in series making it 12v powered. Has anyone tried using a 12v battery from a quad or motorcycle? I'm thinking that should last a whole bunch longer than the 8 AA's.
What are your thoughts or experiences with the 12v battery.

I recommend just going on the Foxpro site and buying their 12 volt battery option. I used to go through conventional batteries like crazy. The 12 V for mine cost $60, I bought 2. They will ship to Canada. That way warranty will still be eligible. I just bought a Prairie Blaster 3 because my Prairie Blaster 1 pooped the bed. Foxpro fixed the PB 1 for free and sent it back. Their warranty is awesome and so are their staff and that's why I make this recommendation as the calls aren't bulletproof but they are exspensive and you will want warranty when they go down.

My Prairie Blaste takes 8 D batteries and they last about 6 hours of calling time. After buying 16 D batteries a weekend I opted for the 12 Volt on the Foxpro site. You will get better sound out of a 12 volt as well.
