9mm Decisions - First Purchase

I own and shoot lots of handguns. Based on what you said, I would suggest a CZ 75. It is all steel, well made, reliable and accurate. For a little more, the CZ Shadow offers adjustable sights, a better trigger and a bit more accuracy. It is as close to a perfect pistol as I have ever handled.

If I could only have one, that might be it.

+1 I totally agree my Shadow is about the best I've handled..

Well , I don't have large hands and my favorite guns to shoot are my 226 , 92 and .....drum roll please ....Llama Omni . Apparently the Omni is for big hands but I love shooting it . Lol , super cheap gun and I love it at least as much as my Sig , go figure .

My Beretta shoots 2" groups no problem. (might shoot better if I could shoot better) Never had a feeding, ejecting or FTF problem in the 1000 rounds I've shot out of it. That includes American Eagle of varying Grains, Barnaul, Lellier and Bellot, and hand loads. She seems to eat it all without an issue, the reloads are cast and it even shoots those surprisingly well with little leading. It fits my large hands well to the point it feels made for my hands. The only issue with it is the safety can be a pain to flick off in a hurry if that's your thing.

Jericho might be worth a look for you. Well built and under your price point, steel or polymer frame. If you're a wheel gun fan the Alfa Proj 9mm revolver is affordable and intriguing. I have an M&P 40 S&W, very reliable gun too if that tickles your fancy in 9mm.

Have a Jericho in metal, 9 mm. I think it's a great gun, prefer it over my M&P 9.

I have medium'ish size hands and 15 pistols. My recommendation of the ones i own would be: CZ75 shadow,Sig P226,FNP 9,beretta 92,HK usp and 9mm 1911. you can not go wrong with any!

Go to a local Range and try the ones you think you would like you will learn a lot. I went with a ruger sr9 because it was cheep. Nice gun but did not perform as well as I thought. I now have a CZ 75 SP01 shadow. Its a million times better. I wanted it in the beginning should have just saved. Now I have spent 550.00 + 750.00= $1300.00 all in. I could have just saved and got the CZ first and saved $550.00.

Just my thoughts.

I went through the same process. I bought a Girsan Regard (Turkish copy of a Beretta 92), nice enough gun, but will not shoot lead bullets. I then got a Ruger SR-9. Decent shooter, but not great. I then bought a CZ 85 Combat in 9mm and it was a revelation. Using the same handloads as I had shot in my other 9's, my group sizes at 20 yards shrunk at least 50% or more. It shoots my lead loads of 4.5 gr's Unique and Ideal 121 g lead bullet really well. In fact I liked the CZ 85 Combat so well I got another CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow and it is just as good as my 85. You can spend more on a 9 mm semi auto than a CZ, but I doubt you will get a more accurate gun at any price unless you get into limited competition models

Another vote for CZ. I have a shadowline and it is just great. Spend a little more money and get quality first, you will save on the long run.

If you like Beretta 92 go for it! it's a great gun, super reliable and easy to take care of. It was my first handgun I'd do it over again if I had to.

CZ75 Shadow. Great gun and great shooter. Lots of mods and great resale if you don't like.
