So, I had originally posted a thread looking for any available deals on the Ruger SR-22 and don't get me wrong I still am but after the great feedback that thread received describing the potential to be able to scratch build an AR like platform using the 10/22 I am very motivated to start sourcing parts and I am looking for any suggestions and better yet Canadian suppliers of the necessary parts to make this happen.

I would be open to US suppliers as well as I have the ability to go down to upper state NY to pick up packages, just looking to avoid border hassles if possible.

Got some good advice to find the Tactical innovations CH22 BILLET MACHINED REAR CHARGING HANDLE REPLACEMENT 10/22® RECEIVER at two Canadian locations but if anyone knows of better priced options or ones that have the Black version in stock that would be great.

just personal preference but as soon as i see the name Tactical Innovations on anything 10/22 related i wince and get a little leery.
i have yet to have anything of theirs that is in spec and ive just all around not been impressed with their offerings.
in fact anything of their parts that i have purchased over the last 4 years ive either not been able to use or have swapped out at the soonest possible opportunity or just gone back to the stock ruger item.
im sure there are people who like their products and i can only speak from what ive personally used but i give them a wide berth.
you may wanna look at their receivers on google/youtube - i know there where a lot of videos about them failing and replacement from TI being nasty.

maybe they have turned a new leaf and have improved their product since the last time i had my grubby fingers on them.
YMMV.

I told you want you wanted to know on the other post.

Dunno if the ATI ar22 is similar to what your after?

After much research that is what I thought I would be doing but then figured it was just easier to go with the Ruger SR-22 but then after finding out about the Tactical innovations CH22 BILLET MACHINED REAR CHARGING HANDLE REPLACEMENT 10/22® RECEIVER I am back at square one and would like to go with a build with that receiver at the center. If I can get a functioning charging handle like a C7 then I would like to focus on that. There were a number of kits with "mock" parts but I'd like to get as close to a C7 with a 22 as I can in Canada without it being restricted (otherwise I'd just got with the S&W .22 or an AR all together). Thanks for the post but I'd really to see what people were able to accomplish with a build using that receiver if possible.

Here is my $0.02:

I guess it comes down to one basic decision: Is it AR looks or AR function that is most important to you?

If it is AR looks, than the Nordic/SR-22, ATI or Troy chassis would be the way to go. The advantage would go to the Nordic/SR-22 if you are looking to customize, since it will take the widest variety of AR parts, especially front hand guards. While the ATI and Troy have the advantage with less weight and better ergonomics out of the box.
If it is AR function, then go restricted. Having a 10/22 with a rear charging handle (while there is absolutely nothing wrong with this) is not anything like an AR as far as controls and ergonomics go. The S&W M&P 15-22 is a fantastic rifle and is potentially the least expensive option. There are good condition used examples on the EE regularly for $450. The only disadvantage is the 10 round mag limit. The ultimate solution in my opinion is an actual AR. These vary from cheap (i.e.: Chiappa) to the sky is the limit price wise, no mag restrictions (I have 25, 32 & 50 round mags) and controls and looks are 99% AR.

Im sorry to be the bad new bear! The chiappa 22 upper now has to have 10 round pinned mags.
They have a pistol version. So our Canadian laws now force us to pin all mags. Sounds like you have some prohibited items!!!!!
If you have a chiappa. Norinco is a different matter.
I had he first AM 180 drum conversion in Canada.
275 rounds for AR 22s. Again since this is an aftermarket mag the laws on these are grey!

You're right you did provide a lot of information to get started and I thanked you for it but also mentioned I would start this thread because I would like to see what others have done, thoughts etc. as well as try and get more feedback on what body kits DO work with the Tactical innovations CH22 RECEIVER as you had mentioned there were some that fit better then others and I am attempting to find out which ones those are and go from there. Thank you for the picture, that is what I'm heading towards but perhaps one with rails up front for accessories etc. Is that a kit or is that a Ruger 10/22 tactical with the Tactical innovations CH22 and barrel?

My Bad, yes 10 round limit on the chiappa uppers. How did you get a sling mount on the 15-22? Did you drill a hole?

As for my build. Stock TCG, axiom stock, CH22 receiver, tacsol barrel, PWS mag lever.
If someone built a AR kit that fit the CH22 receiver, it would be closer to an AR. I'd be so happy having a long handguard with rails. However it would add weight. Since I'm using a RDS, the long rail I'd trade for lower weight.
3.75lbs loaded with a long barrel. Simply awesome for young shooters.
