Does anyone know if there is a Canadian source for either the Ultimak or AmegaRange scout-scope mounts for Mini14's? I'm actually thinking of having one imported, but would much rather find one to buy without jumping through that particular hoop.

I'm hoping that the number of responses explaining why I shouldn't like my Mini...and how much better the MR1 is...and how important it is to have a gun that accepts LAR mags, etc. can be minimized. :)

While I have not used those products you mentioned ,I did slap on a GG&G rail on my Mini and put on a red dot as far forward as possible (just even of the chamber and I love it (used to have a Nikon 2-7x32 on the Ruger rings)

If you can get one of the Ultimaks ,I think you would like the quick point and aim of the system on the Mini 14 ,I sure do.

OBTW......Mini 14s rule ,don`t care what anybody says !!

You're preaching to the choir. I'm a fan of the scout-scope concept, and have a Steyr Scout, a Marlin SBL and 1894, and a couple of 10/22's set up with scout scopes. I've also been a Mini14 devotee since they first came out. I briefly dabbled in the AR world, using a Colt HBAR for woodchuck hunting for a few years (yes, it was legal, once upon a time in Canada...), but I got out of that platform even before the gummint decided it was too evil to be trusted to common folk.

I have an Ultimak that I haven't installed yet. I couldn't find it in Canada so I got mine from Brownells.

That's good to hear. I thought they wouldn't ship that to Canada. The Ultimak is definitely my preference, lower rail than the Amega and much lower than the GG&G. Thanks.
