I had a BAD experience with a previous JW20 from another supplier, received my CanAm shipment yesterday, tore it apart and can already see that it's not from the same batch as my other was (whew). Much nicer machining and wood. Fit/finish is definitely better. Once it was all shined up and tested, I can say it's a great deal on a handy lil rifle. Mounted a weaver base and a cheap old fixed 4x. Definitely worth the $. As for the backpacker, well it is what it is and I can't say anything bad. Thanks CanadaAmmo!!!

Chuckle! And, my first order arrived today & I am HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!!!

My JW20 looks great, my NS522 looks great and I am VERY glad I ordered a second of each!

Now, if I can just find the time to remove all the grease and go shooting! HA HA

Mine was loose, I took the barrel off & turned the barrel ring a half dozen clicks & tried that, had to take it off & on a couple more times to get it tightened it up a click at a time!

While the take down feature is nice,I think I will tighten mine up and leave it that way.The only reason to take it down is for fitting into a traveling case or backpack but other than that,it may as well stay connected
Once I got the bugs cleared up,I mounted my Bushnell TRS 25,it sure makes a nice package.
 
Looks like the tread on the muzzle is metric (1.25mm). I tried a 1/2X28 compensator and it would only thread on about a thread and a half before it tightened up.
I decided to order 2 one for myself and another for a buddy.
One has nice wood with a pretty good stain job the other has the typical muddy stain.
Both have very sharp and stiff takedown latches. You'd think they'd at least de-tune the sharp edges on this piece as it is small and requires excessive force to operate.
The latch definitely needs de tuning of the sharp edges and smoothing of the sides. Watch out for the springs and plungers taking it apart! Browning parts are pretty cheap at Brownells if anyone would rather just buy a smooth latch and plungers. ($14.00 for the latch and the plungers are about $4.00)

The rifle with the muddy wood also has a loose magazine outer tube and when it is threaded into the receiver firmly the keyhole bullet slot is not lined up with the hole in the stock. Someone at the factory also grossly over ground the receiver steel so that it does not come down and meet the bottom of the trigger assembly as it should. The stock also has a small crack near the weak point where it mates with the trigger assembly.

So basically one good to go(just needs smoothing of sharp operating parts) and one dud.





 
Took mine out today in the snow to plink and it ate Fed HP's,Rem Cyclones,crappy Win Wildcats and even Yellow Jackets with the TC HP nose. Fed CB longs underpowered however did not eject.........Harold
 
My order just arrived via Canpar tonight.. I got the JW-20 and the single shot 12Ga Backpacker for $235 all in. There was a pad of targets and a copy of Calibre Magazine. I suppose thats the french spelling of caliber or it's an acronym for Canada Free in french.. I'm going to soak them both in gasoline to get the plum sauce off some time this week but I am really pleased with my first transaction with CanadaAmmo.. This little repeater is just the thing to get me out after some small game come the New Year.
 
I must be missing something, all of my guns were wiped down with paper towel. It'z just a light oil, not cosmoline. I'd hate to see what steps would be taken for an SKS.

It's not cosmoline on mine. It looks more like old chip fryer oil mixed with cylinder bore chips and very fine beach sand. I soak it all in gasoline and blow it out with compressed air then another bath in fresh gasoline. Being from China, the toxicity of the material is suspect. I handle the firearm with oil proof gloves and work on a plastic drop sheet. Some lubes are known carcinogens and others are mutagens.. The Chinese have previously sent us radioactive drywall building material and houses had to be torn apart to remove the hazard.
 
Stardate 20122014, the JW20 will not function during a live test at the range. Cartridges will not chamber and the test had to be aborted during a red alert. The system had to be taken down and removed in pieces. Inspection showed the firing chamber had two non circular "dents" that were honed out by me and now the firearm will load. Test firing will have to be delayed until next weekend or at the cabin over the holiday.

The bottom portion of the firing chamber has two very thin spots providing space for the double extractors and both of these were malformed or peened over reducing the diameter of the chamber bore at those points. I honed this material away with a bent rat tail points file. The cartridge will chamber with the gun disassembled and when assembled a dummy round works fine.. But will it shoot? Stay tuned..
