Hello

Just wondering about....would love to have your opinion
Best caliber for coyote/varmint hunting
Best rifles for this hunting

In consideration
Price of ammo
Price of rifle
Range of bullet
Quality of rifle

Thanks

some folks like long legs with less wind drift, 243 / 6mm. Some like the 22-250. Some use the 204 Ruger. I just bought a 240 WBY to make black bird snacks out of yotes away way out there.

When it comes to coyotes any caliber I have in my hands at the time I see one is going to be used!...but when actually chasing them on purpose I like .223 REM, .22/250 REM or .243 WIN.

X2

Bull barrels seem like a good idea until you're a mile away from your truck and you have to lug the D@mn thing back.

Couldn't agree more ! One of my coyote rifles has a heavy barrel, weighs 11 lbs. and is no fun at all to lug through knee-deep or deeper drifts.
I'll take my light rifle when the going gets tough...

I would rather have a sporter barrel for a yote rifle, Less weight is nice when lugging threw 2 feet of snow.

Really I don't mind lugging my 15lb rifle around anywhere. Also my choice on caliber was 6mm Rem. With 100gr bonded matrix I had small hole in small out. Switched to a 6.5 Creedmoor and it blows holes on the far side. So once I get enough brass I will order up some 6.5 matrixs goodies and see how it goes. I like having the ability to knock down a wolf if I happen to call it in.

.223 is a good caliber with lots of cheap practise ammo available but my vote is for
The 22-250. Love the caliber.
I also agree with others. Heavy barrels are great at the range on a bipod but a pain in the ass in the field.
Put a nice vortex scope on a savage, winchester, or browning and you'll be very happy.
