I finally figured out why we're only allowed three shells for waterfowling.

I usually miss with the first two, then fire the third one off in anger and frustration.

The government is trying to save me money.

If I had five shells in my shotgun I would miss with the first two as usual then fire the next three at the retreating ducks in anger and frustration.

your doing it wrong.............

I fire 2 warning shots and then shoot to kill with the 3rd if they don't retreat

Don't let the government know. Or they will set a new limit of two shells

It's actually for when your outboard dies mid-hunt and middle of the lake.
First shot = S
Second shot = O
Third shot = S

But you have to space the shots slowly and in perfect timing otherwise you sound like a Waterfowler, you know, three shots as fast as you can BANG-BANG-BANG with no effect whatsoever! That my friend spells S O L !!!

I often use one of my Citori O/U's... so I miss with the bottom barrel, then miss with the top barrel... and since we are allowed three shells... I just throw the last one, overhand, after the reteeating birds... that way it is exactly the same as shooting one of my semi auto's...

There's a bag limit, and also a magazine limit. I'd like to know the real origin of the magazine limit, because it doesn't make sense to me.

If there is any advantage to having more in a magazine, there is still a limit for the day. Are they trying to limit how fast somebody limits out?

Excellent! I wish had an Over/Under shotgun now.

They are trying to reduce gratuitous flock busting... while I am not in favour of excessive regulation... the three shell limit doesn't bother me much.
